Yeah, what he said! J/K
Let's see, dry you car with a chamois to avoid water spots. Use a different rag than the one you use on the body to wash your wheels and tires. If you get spots on the windows, you can use ultra fine steel wool to get rid of them. Use a window cleaner that does not have ammonia. This prevents streaking. Always keep a decent wax job on the car. This also prevents spots and makes the car easier to clean. When you do wash and wax the car, try to do it in the shade during summer. The water and wax won't dry as fast, and the windows won't streak if the car's surface is cool.

Something else to add to the good info that Rick provided.

Invest in a claybar. If you want to keep a nice smooth finish on your car, the claybar will really help. It strips off all of the contaminates that get embedded on the surface of your car over time. I know mothers makes one if oyu can find it.

Only thing that i'll add to this would be, every other month i take off each rim and clean the inside of the rims. gets really dirty in there. as well in the wheel well, high pressure hose there get rid of a lot of crud. You also might want to get your engine cleaned as well. (make sure to do this when your engine is cool and not hot)
