General pushrod question

Ok so this isn't an Alero question, however it could include the Alero along with just every single pushrod motor on the road

working on my 330 today and I'm all done for the day and I'm "fogging" it down and I played around with the pushrods. All the valves are "closed" meaning I losened all the rocker arms so they don't get frozen open and 2 on the pushrods on numbers 5 and 6 the rods are not connected to the lifters :o

now right before I posted this I thought that maybe since the valves were closed and there is no tension on the rods that this is ok. Motor ran perfect before I bought it. Then the guy took his manifold and carb and sold me the rest

I posted here because it takes a while before a question is answered in classicoldsmobile.com I did not see what happens when I turn the motor because I did not have my 1 1/8 socket to do so. Planing on doing the oil pan soon anyway and a new oil pump

So, what is the question exactly?

If you are worried that leaving rods installed in an engine will lead to problems you have already done the only thing that could matter by 'fogging' the engine with oil, unless you want to take everything apart and coat with grease like the military used to do....

I pulled a noob boner here.

When I tug on the pushrods, all but 2 bring the lifter up with it. In a brain fart monent I thought that this was a problem only to realize that pushrods aren't really bolted to anything, they are just there
