i am having a issue with my change oil light. i have an 04 gl2. chane oil light popped up. i have the red reset button and to my expience u hold it down unil the change oil goes away well this doesnt work. then i came here and searched forums and read a few about hitting the ga pedal. then i tried my own wacky combinations mixing the pedal and the button still no luck. anyone ever have this problem? any solutions? something i might have done wrong? where does the key need to be?

Here's what you do. Press and release the RESET button until the "Change Oil" light begins to flash. Then hold the RESET button down unitl you hear several chimes and then the "Change Oil" light will go out.

Make sure your key is on "ON" and the engine isn't on.

I see what you are saying charley but if he reset the oil light whether he changes it or not it will go until he reaches 3,000 miles or even a little over. Cause when mine goes off I just reset it and it will stay off until I hit 3,000 miles again. Still thats a good question....When was the last time you changed your oil.

actually the light goes by rpm. so tha mileage can be way off if you do a lot of idling in the car

On mine I think you just turn the key to where thei ignition is on but the motor is not running and I think you press the gass pedal twice and hold it down on the second push...the the light should reset. Its 2 or 3 times you press the pedal I always have to toy with it when it is time to change the oil.

Wow on mine First you turn the key to the on position, then you press the reset button once then you will see the change oil light flashing, once its flashing press and hold the reset button until the light goes out and you hear 2 or 3 chimes.....then you are all done. I have a 2000 and have never had to hit the gas pedal or brakes, which sound strange to me.

turn key to on (without turning car over)
press reset button once or twice to get "change oil" to start blinking
once it does press and hold reset till it chimes a few times
turn key off (must do this step or it wont turn off)
turn car back on and there u go light be off
but also make sure u did an oil change or if your running synthetic at least a filter change
do this even if u have done an oil change with out the light coming on
also works for low tire pressure light
make sure u reset this if you change ur tires or rims or even if u notice tires are low and fill them up
for some odd reason my car likes to have it light up after i refill the tires

I have no button on my '04. I just have to turn the key on, press the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds and it beeps like 5 times and the light goes off.
