i need some help on my 99 alero 2.4l idk if i should go with a turbo or a supercharger. wat will give me the more power i want, and where can i get? someone point me in the right way please

to my understanding, supercharger is easier, as certain types are "bolt-on", and SC never gives you lag. it's instant power.

HOWEVER, if you have the right size snail and tubing, the turbo setup can give you more power, and little-to-no lag. It is more difficult to install as there are more parts to be fabricated, and is a bit more difficult to tune, but if you want a nice project, the difficulty might be on the "pro" side of your list, not a "con".

Also, the turbo setup would probably have more options to upgrade if you're into track racing. SC is pretty limited, but more reliable.


the rule of thumb with performance mods is this:
Cheap, reliable, fast. pick 2.

On a 2.4 you can go both ways... The GM S/C kit is the easiest but not a LOT of power added, most turbos could do better. 3rd party bigger S/C works very well with I/C.

Knowing what you want to spend will make a difference, tell us...

well there is andysaustosport but some stuff is crap. The 2.4 is a common engine so it should be not hard to find performance parts.

Look around Aleromod Upgrades and www.j-body.org..

The GM supercharger kit's a lot easier to install, but for the same amount of money, you can make a lot more power with a turbocharger setup, but you need to know a decent amount of the way the engine works.
