Header install

Hey just wondering, are headers completely bolt on, like no welding involved?
Also any difference between black and ceramic coated (the silver) besides the look?

i think the ceramic coated are more heat resistant, therefore, last longer.

the ceramic coating keeps the exhaust temp high which facilitates good flow. my crossover pipe had to be cut and re-welded for them to fit right, but mine are TOG's which aren't produced anymore. S&S should bolt right up. i am assuming you have a 3400. i dont know anything about 4 cylinder headers.

you can clamp the new downpipe in place after hacksawing the old one off in the right spot, but yes you should weld the new downpipe to the rest of the exhaust.

the header bolts to the downpipe using two flanges and a ball joint, then you need to connect the downpipe to the rest of your exhaust system by welding it.

Since I don't have a welder, nor know how to weld, a exhaust shop would be best for installing the headers?

its header, one. solo. a V engine has two, since there's two heads.

you can install it, clamp it, then drive it to an exhaust palce and have them properly weld the connection. you'll need a 3" -> 2" adapter or something, whatever the stock size piping is. or you can have the exhaust shop do it all, not sure how much that'll run you.

How much of a pain is it to clamp it since our header is in the back, unlike most cars where they are in the front?
