billy you saved 900 to go!? how the hell much do you think it costs to drive to MI!?!

fyi to ny guys... unless you have a passport, or driver's lisc AND birth certificate, you won't be able to cut across canada, and shave like 1.5/2 hours off. You gotta go the ohio route.

and i won't be making it this year. school and bills are getting in the way.

[ion] C2
02-10-2008, 12:17 PM
^Damn!

I wouldn't want to drive through Canadia, at customs they can tear your car apart for no reason and leave it that way.

nickbain
02-10-2008, 12:26 PM
ya well if I come i gotta cross customs so suck it up! lol

cherrington17
02-10-2008, 12:27 PM
Lucas, mike, and myself didn't have TOO many problems. I had a little time convincing the customs guy going INTO canada that i wasn't a terrorist.

(car full of crap, laptop on my passanger's seat w/ several programs and mapping software open) and then mistakenly telling him me and 2 friends are driving through, and I only met them 2 days ago...

Even I thought I sounded suspicious.

bizarre179
02-10-2008, 12:29 PM
Never had bad luck going in and out of Canada, and i have gone many times recently(once in a dodge intrepid with a two tone spray paint job with a penis on the side). If i do go, I def. will go the short cut.

p1mptress
02-10-2008, 04:43 PM
Maybe I will be attending. Not sure yet. But if I do go I will have to call the local auto stores and make sure they have my motor mounts in stock! I guess I can always go, I just need to convince some friends to come along also. But I had fun last year so I mine as well make the long drive there this year.

Silentalero
02-10-2008, 04:43 PM

Well let's see.

Redog is getting worked on.

A few sutle changes, but will be a HUGE improvement over last year.

:ninja: That's all I'm saying :ninja:

I may be going out a few days early. Linda's friend might be moving back to Battle Creek

C2;334084']^Damn!

I wouldn't want to drive through Canadia, at customs they can tear your car apart for no reason and leave it that way.

US customs searched my car and checked to make sure there was nothing in my sub box. I was 20 minutes at the border. I had to have my reservations printed out because he didn't believe me. That was 20 minutes with customs. I spent about 1.5 hours at the border.

there absolutely NO alcohol aloud at the homecoming show.

The Alero show( rest of the weekend) is not a drinkingfest and anyone who drinks a lot and causes any trouble with the hotel and/or the police will be thrown out and banned. If you want to drink be responsible..........PERIOD

So yes you could drink at the Alero Show but start being an ass and cause any trouble with the hotel and/or the police you will be thrown out and banned.

Look this weekend is about having fun and meeting people off the board. But you still need to be responsible.

Drink in moderation and all will be good! If you get out of control, you'll have to answer to me, the whip for the BATF. I make my living off of the alcohol industry, but when someone abuses it and get the spotlight on themselves and the group I am with, watch out. The wrath of your God and mine will come down upon you!!

I enjoyed last year 110% and can't recall anyone out of control, with the exception of Zol. He needed to drink more, he was to quiet.

This sounds like its way to regulated for me to attend. I was hoping on just driving up the SC-3 Intrigue taking the family and hanging out with you guys for the day but 1. I don't own an Alero right now and 2. I don't want to pay an ebtry fee for a show I couldnt be judged in anyway. If any of you guys are going to Oldsmobile nationals in Dearborn this year I will just see you there.

don't NEED one.. but it'll streamline your passage.

you DO require Valid Drivers Liscense AND Birth Certificate... be sure to remember those, and keep them in a safe place.

for the love of god, do NOT lose those while in lansing!

when i went to canada all i had was an id and they let me in and out. No birth certificate (had it on me anyway) But you dont need a passport to drive over.

yeah.... I thought the new legislation came into effect as of Feb. 1/08 that passports are mandatory for all border crossings now... Unless it is just for air travel now, and next year is for all types of travel... I am not sure on this, but figure it would probably save a lot of hassles to have them in hand, rather than try to just cross... especially if I have anything done to the car by then, besides my stereo...

Last year I hooked up with Oldsman and Jturkey at a truck stop on I-94 if I remember correctly. I think it was Truck America.

Depending on the route you take we might be able to hook up earlier.

Actually I've been cleaning up the car a lot over the past few months and dropping some money to get the apperacne back up to what it should be.

That's what I liked about the show, esp since I judged a class last year with Scott, I got to see what judges look for at car shows and it gives me the chance to address and fix them.

I would like to place, but if I don't it's no big deal. I just want to know what was wrong with the car so I can fix it ;)

02-28-2008, 01:55 PM
The interior of my car is still going to look like complete crap, but I really don't care... It's a work in progress to get it back to a more stock look.... The exterior should be in excellent condition minus the rear bumper unless I can get it fixed for relatively cheap before I head up there.

My silver stock car took second place with a hood that was rusting. Damn that 500. I only have rims, stereo, and STB. So think about it. My hood is even more rusted this year but it is a clean car inside and out.

Ok everyone to go into more detail on the classes........

if your car is all stock with stock wheels and lowering springs then you would be in stock class. If you have a all stock car with only aftermarket wheels then you would be in stock.

if you have aftermarket wheels, exhaust, CAI, headers, aftermarket gauges then you are in mild. if you have a razzi kit with stock wheels you are in mild. If you have only aftermarket wheels and lowered you are in mild.

if you have the AAS, forbidden, or any custom full bumper replacement bodykit you are in wild. if you have stock body with shaved handles, custom paint and air ride you are in wild.

Stereo systems do not count unless you have a full fiberglass custom setup (aka aftermath style). Neither does tint or clear corners.

when you are judged it is not based off what all upgrades you have done. so if you are in wild without a bodykit you won't be deducted points for that. We take into consideration mileage and everyone drives their car.

we try to fair to everyone and make sure everyone has a good time and maybe learn a thing or two.

i hope this clears some thing up for all of you.

if you still have any questions regarding classing PM me

ugh, my car needs detailed and waxed like whoa. not to mention i still need to put the 36lb injectors in along with the 62mm TB (hopefully next week). after a little tuning i hope to get it dynoed again and then to the track. i will still be rocking the rock chipped windshield too lol it's only been there fora year and a half so i will count it as a mod.

Wahoo got a lot of stuff to do.

Front bumper buy/fit/paint, headlight buy and clear the corner, drilled/slotted rotors, replace passenger fender, rebuild the engine.

Yeah, but the shop will do everything, including the swap, for $650. I'm just trying to get a timeframe from him and when I can drop off the spare engine.. and save up the money.

They might have hair dryers in the rooms that he could use, I don't remember if they did or not. Also have to keep track of how many beers it takes to complete and add to list off ASS mechanical achievements.

did you ever get your tranny flushed? how many miles are on your car?

I was thinking about getting my flushed, i have about 63,000 miles. But i decided to wait

jackal2000

well, i cant remember if i had it flushed when i got back from iraq in april 04 or not (the car sat for 7 months). back then the car had about 45,000 miles on it. now it has over 116,000 miles on it LOL im having them put synthetic in which is around $260 plus they are doing the yearly safety inspection so i expect a $300 bill.

lets hope not! i expect a little bit of slip for a couple hundred miles while the fluid is getting "broken in". i think thats normal.

i don't know if i want to flush the transmission i've heard too many bad stories. like 3/4 of people who do it end up destroying the trans. (182,xxx mi lol never flushed as far as i know)

Oldsnut

I would imagine that at 100K all that you would do is free up a lot of the crud that is stuck in nooks and crannies of the tranny, just waiting to destroy the tranny in the end. Some of those loose pieces of crud will remain inside.

soooooooooo the stealership called me this morning. i was planning on spending about $300 for the flush and inspection. old boy tells me it's gonna be $1000 and lists off shit that is wrong with the car.

1) windshield banner is too low so they have to remove it (i figured that one)
2) mesh over the fog lights is illegal (news to me since they inspected it last year and it was fine)
3) left outer tie rod is bad (this will be the 3rd time replacing it)
4) outside turn signal bulbs are wrong color, need to be amber and they are white
5) driver door window regulator motor is bad (this was most expensive at $400. i told him that the motor is fine but the front of the window falls out of the sash because the glue bond is broken. i should know considering i put the window down multiple times a day. so after they discover that it should only cost like $20 to fix it.)

so really im looking at about $650 :o plus next week will be around another $300 for the TB and fuel injector install. good times!

[ion] C2
05-30-2008, 12:21 PM
ridiculous, haha no state inspections here.

my signal bulbs look silver but light up amber. i can't believe that the dealership has the authority to modify your vehicle to make it satisfy street legal requirements (such as the banner..)

jackal2000
05-30-2008, 12:48 PM
its not about authority. they are charging me for them to remove it. i removed my old one for last years inspection and then went and got another one for $50 so i will do the same again this year :p im surprised they didnt say anything about me not having a front plate on it which its supposed to. i cant bring myself to drill holes in the bumper cover tho lol

[ion] C2

That blows... Michigan FTW. No inspections, no front plate, just retarded anti-tint laws.

Totally blows haha... You need to find a Lebanese gas station to do your inspections. They pass you every time.
