Ok, so recently my alternator went out (nothing like tripling your amp power output to strain an electical system), all sorts of weird stuff happened beforehand - my gauges completely died, lights went out, performance was sluggish, etc. Got the alternator replaced, electrical stuff seems to be a-ok again, but I'm noticing something odd with the shifting now. Normally there's a nice little "snap" or whatever when the gears shift. It seems now that it takes it a second or so to shift - almost like it's a bit sluggish or squishy... anybody ever noticed anything like this or have any ideas of what to check?

Thanks,
Collin

i'm guessing since you were doing electrical work, you had your battery disconnected. when you reconnected the battery it reset the PCM and it now has to "re-learn" your driving habits. same thing happened to mine after i switched batteries.

depending on how you drive, the PCM will adjust to your habits. if you're a spirited driver, then over time it adjusts the pressure on the tranny and you get that nice quick snap shift. drive it the same way you normally do and it'll eventually learn your driving habits again.

or just install a B&M shiftplus and it'll shift even quicker.

Exactly...Your computer has to re-learn. It should only take a day or 2 and the trans should feel normal again. I just had my battery disconnected to clean the terminals and it done the samething.

Yeah, seems to have done what they said (still a tiny bit sloppy, but nothing like what it was) - I had no clue it did that either, but pretty cool stuff!
