Patience Prevails...New race Alero!!
My 16 year old daughter wanted to join me for racing Aleros. We finally found her one, and she may join the forums sometime in the near future. Just brought it home tonight.
The good:
2000 Alero GLS, white
factory polished rims
2-dr
tan leather int.
3400 V6 / automatic
body in good shape with no dents or dings except a bit of cancer in the front side of the rear fenderwells (both sides).
engine is running very strong, and transmission shifts well.
The bad (needs replaced/fixed):
mild cancer mentioned above
both front struts (bearings are making that popping noise when turning)
all brake pads
heater/AC fan doesn't work
carpet needs replaced (too dirty to clean)
guage panel lights inop
turn signals are intermittent (both) but the hazards work consistently.
needs both front tires replaced.
The Price: $500
Building it into a mild turbo setup utilizing the stock log exh manifolds, and a crossover with the turbo flange already welded in which I have on hand. also have the blow off valve, boost controller, charge pipes, couplers, vacuum lines and EGR delete kit.
Just need to pick a snail/wastegate/intercooler, and start fabbing the downpipe.
Pics (as purchased) will be posted by this weekend. Sorry, was too excited to wait to unveil with pics.

Yeah guys, I'm totally stoked. I wonder which of us is more excited about it, me or her.
So, if anyone has anything like decent struts etc and are not too far away, let me know.

Probably not in the early spring, Kansas just changed their DL laws, she has to drive for 6 months on a permit before getting her full license.
(AT THE DRIVER'S EXAM):
Evaluator: "Young lady, it is NOT necessary to 'STAGE' at every traffic light!"
Daughter: "But dad said I HAVE to reduce my 60' time !!"

Sounds like a great buy for $500, with all your know-how it's all very fixable problems!
Have fun with.. sounds like you two get bonding time on it, lol.

Thanks guys, it's all going well so far. At least the price was fair, and leaves me a little room to get started fixing it, but nothing major at this time. On the other hand, I do have a spare T-70 sitting here that is just itching to get rebuilt...LOL

it has 145k on it, but runs like it's got 50k on it, and the fluids are clean. I'm not going wild with the boost like on mine, so it shouldn't be an issue.
