Thumbs down

Hi Folks,
I got my Alero for 2 weeks now. Yesterday I did a little check on my baby.
First of all, I saw, that the Powersteering reservoir is nearly empty. After that I checkd the powersteering and saw a leaking left side.
Now my question.
What could been broken or worn? And is there perhaps a repair set. Containig all new bushing and gaskets? Or is the only possibility a complete new power steering?

After I looked closer, I saw, between engine and transmission a masive oil spill. Its not trans. fluid, its engine oil. What gaskets should be renewed?

And now, its a '99 3.4L stock Alero, with around 86000 km on it.

Any kind of hints and help is appreciated.

Sincerly

Oops.
Ok. SO the crankshaft is dripping on the bottom. It seems like some oil has been spilled. on the radiator side of the transmission on the upper section in a little *dont know right wod* sink. But it's mainly at the bottom of both oil pan's, and its defenetly comming from the engine side of the crankcase.

So about the Steering. Its all around the rubber protection.
Sorry its realy hard to explain if u dont now the right words.
Sorry no pics avaible
It dripping also at the point where the steering divides into left and right side to the wheels. But oil is only on the driver side.

I hope it helps a bit.

Greetings

ok where you say its seeping onto your tranny, radiator side that sounds like you may have the lower intake manifold leak......thats exactly where mine was leaking onto and a lot of people have had the same problem......

as far as your steering, what id do is wipe everything down super clean, make a quick drive around the block and then jack it up and see if you tell exactly where its coming from, the rubber protection is most likely the boot you are talking back, are their any holes in it......my brothers honda had that problem, he had a tear in the boot, it was all basically shot so they gave him a new rack and pinion.......i dunno if your problem would only require a new boot or if thats even possible......others on here will have better answers on that than me........but good luck

Hi.

Hmm upper intake Manifold. I don't think its seeping from there.
But I'll double check it,

About the steering.
here a pic

ok the parts where most of the oil is.
directly right of the "big knob" in the middle. And I think the boot is dripping because the sealing (silver strap in pic) can't hold back, the huge amount of steering fluid.

A complete new steering would cost 409€ (520$) + 107€ (217) for giving back the old part (even when I don't give it back. kind of Garbage taxes)
and transportcosts.
So, not realy cheap.

If I have more, I let u guys know.

Greetings

not upper intake manifold, the lower intake manifold, it goes between the lower manifold and the head/block......the place you say its leaking to points me in that direction....

as far as your steering is concerned its looking like you might have to replace it.....make sure its not dripping down a line onto it, or anything in that matter......

sorry just wrote wrong.
I now that you said and meant lower intake manifold.

Yes, seems to be a new Steering. poop.

seems like, its going to be a very very large routine maintenance action.

Thanks
