trans issues

ok so I went to got run some errands and when I went to shift into reverse nothing happened so I cycled it a few time still nothing so I went back to reverse and hit the gas a little and after a concerning noise it shifted. also when under acceleration it pulls to the right but when you let off it pulls to the left and there's a very noticeable vibration under acceleration anyone have any idea what it is or has anyone encountered this before thanks

The shifting into reverse and it not catching means your trans is on it's way out

The pulling usually means alignment, bad tie rod, low tire pressure, etc etc, but that's pulling to one side only.

Vibrating under accel could be a broken mount, but being that you said the reverse thing, your going to need a new trans anyway.

Sorry

Yep new transmission. It may also be a clogged transmission filter but that's not too common it did happen on my brothers car though. Changed his fluid and filter and the transmission works again

How many miles are on this transmission?
Did you check the fluid level, and if so exactly how?
When was the last time you changed the fluid and filter?

It sounds a lot like low transmission oil pressure at low RPM's when cold to me. Very fixable.

it has 193,089 and I haven't changed the filter because I bought it with 188,428 and no there isn't really a way to check fluid level its a sealed trans with no dipstick

Have the car jacked up but level and pull plug on side of transmission up behind pass side wheel. If no fluid comes out, it's low. Fill until fluid comes out. That's how you check it

Not true! Your symptoms suggest low transmission oil pressure which is often caused by low fluid level, old transmission fluid, or a partially clogged transmission filter.

I have a 99 alero 3.4L, which came out of a 01 impala, and I have replaced the tranny about 2 yrs ago, w/ 1 from a 03 Grand AM. So, my drive chain broke in the tranny, 243k miles, not bad for wear and tear, huh? Anyway, my question is; I found another 4T45e, MN5, 3.05 gear ratio out of a 2007 Saturn, 3.5L, same gear ratio - 3.05, same type - MN5, same connector 20 pin; and I was wondering if it will work in my Alero? Now I know there was a few changes in 2005 to the MN5 but only with the Malibu and G6,but no changes for Saturn till 2008. Also, I know the pcm controls the upshifts and downshifts, so if it bolts up, which it does, and plugged in my pcm should see it just another 4T45e right? My pcm has been upgraded by Sinister Performance for crisper shifts at higher RPMs not to mention my engine has been rebuilt with hydra-static pistons,so there is NO piston slap cold or not, new rockers, push rods, and cam. So, guess what I am asking is; is a 2007 4T45e MN5 3.05ratio from a 3.5L interchangable with my 3.4L Alero? That has a 2003 4T45e MN5 3.05ratio in it now.

GM changed the Transmission pump in 2004. It is unknown if it requires different programming or will effect the trans in anyway being hooked up to a pre-2004 PCM. I know that the trans pump in 2004 and up works a differnt way than it's 2003 and down counterparts. The pump is the only thing that is different.

I was bummed because I wanted to put a differnt FDR in my car than the 3.29. My trans is from a 2003 GAGT
