Well today I hit a SES light on way home from work. I stopped at advanced and they said my code was that I was running to rich.
Now here's what I did. I switched from a CAI to a WAI over the weekend because I needed to clean my filter (filthy). While I had it off, I looked and the throttle body was kinda dirty in there as well. So I bought some throttle body cleaner and cleaned that all up and I took my K&N off to clean it.
You guys think I got the code cause I switched and wasn't getting the airflow I used to get and the dirty filter didn't help much? I'm going to stop at the dealership tomorrow and have them turn the light off for me.
As for the car running, it kidna felt like it was flooded (obviously, too much fuel running through), but thats about it.

are you 100% sure you dont have any vac leaks or anything was messed up from the WAI install?
my guess is that something isnt "right" and just an oversite.
the pcm will show an SES just from a properly installed CAI or WAI or switching in between.

if you dont know what you're talking about, please don't talk. The computer can work itself out, the idea is fixing what I THINK is the problem, turning the light off and then seeing if it works out.

I agree. Just get it cleared and see what comes up (hopefully nothing). If I'm not wrong, Advance's scanner should have capability to clear it too. Save you a trip to the dealer

i'd think it'd come up just from the CAI to WAI switch. wouldn't that be enough to mess with your A-F ratio, so the computer thinks there is something wrong, now... even though there isn't...?

pshh w/e i asked a damn mechanic about it before i posted. oh and we have some of the best mechs around, we dont just ignore problems we make sure everything is running right by checking it all out, not just by turning the light off. =/ you said in your post that you felt like it ran 'flooded' or something? exactly. If its running odd then the problem isnt a silly light for gods sake. maybe i misunderstood that?!
oh and i think your crazy that you feel u have to post about every little thing that goes wrong with your car. just get the thing fixed, nobody cares!

umm.. its kinda what this site is for....
not all of us have family owned mech shops to get stuff fixed in.
and he was running rich because his computer was used to having more air(colder more dense air) and now it has warmer hair (hotter more expanded) the quick change and his pcm didn't make the adjustment yet. so it would throw a code, its just common sense. you reset it, and i'll reprogram to the new intake.

i love how she goes on about how the mechanics at her dad's shop are holier than thou art. if your mechanic wants to post his opinion, let him create an account, otherwise.....dont bother posting your hearsay.

yea i agree with everyone, the switch was more than enough to throw the code, i doubt the carb cleaner would cause the ses light, ive cleaned mine twice, the second time i fully removed the throttle body and cleaned the inside, you think the outter side looks bad, the inner was 10 times worse.........next time i say just let ur computer reset after the swap so the computer has no previous settings to run off of, like a fresh start.........

alright first and foremost...this IS a car website, not some social hour to come pick up guys. I posted a problem with a car, not talking about what I did this weekend, so get your facts straight.
You asked a "mechanic" huh? And all he said was get it fixed?? No suggestions what it could be? That doesn't make too much sense to me. If you would have read through the thread completely and not just post skimmed you would have read what I had done to fix the problem...cleaned the TB and my filter. The idea of the thread was to see if anybody else had the same issue and to see if "car people" thought I was on the right track to fixing the issue.
So read the post over and completely before you start throwing around advice.

The carb cleaner looks like fuel when it goes into the engine so if its still in/on the TB it will look like extra "gas" and cause a rich condition. If you removed the TB and it had a chance to dry, which doesn't take long, then its not a prob.
Is the problem fixed? Or still looking for suggs?

the light came on before i cleaned it though...i cleaned it in an attempt to open up the airway a little more.. maybe i'm better off to just run the damn tube back down into the fenderwell and be done with it.

i only did it because putting the filter back down there was too big of a PITA at the time. I have to take my whole front bumper off b/c of the body kit...
