Car Not Running Correctly

Car ran perfectly fine last week. Let her sit for 6 days while racing the Daytona down in DE. Took the Alero back out on the road yesterday and today only to find her running very rough. Hesitating and bucking at low speeds. And then the Check Engine Soon light came on this morning for a few minutes before going away. Anyone have a clue what could be wrong?

Could be a bad o2 sensor? Causing the computer to read your air intake wrong causing issues with low mph. Sounds iffy. I think its because ur Alero got bad u left it for 6 days for another car.

I would vote for a O2 sensor as well, most likely a dowstream O2.

The bucking, rough low cspeed idel, and your proabaly running rich would be due to the PCM not knowing how much gas to put into the engine becuase it has on downstream to tell it "Hey, that's enough fuel for now" It solves this problem by putting more fuel into the motor, there fore fuel is being pushed don into your exhaust system. It's not a serious probelm, but it will burn up your cat if let go for an extened period of time

Just made an appointment to bring her in tomorrow morning. This sucks because my other car is already in the shop getting her radiator replaced and some other parts looked at.

5 of 6 plug wires are now suddenly all arc'ing? WTF??!?!? The dealership says there are a few other items as well. They are one of the only 2 dealerships I trust and they never have done me wrong in the past. I just hope they can get some of this under warranty, though they say that only 1 arc'ed/faulty wire is covered under the warranty, not the entire system. At least that's what I thought he said but I started to fade out mentally at that point.

im sorry but ones again,,, iam so sorry for you guys with those 3400 v6's
they are not good....... get a 2.2L and call it a day. trust me they will out last two 3400. v6's

Hey now the 3400 SFI is not too unrelyable unless u don't keep it well maintained. I have kept on my Alero to a "T" and the only thing I have replaced engine wise was my Alternator. ANd I have 90,000 miles on my car.

My car has 40,000 miles on it and has been maintained EXACTLY as the owner's manual prescribes. 5 of the 6 plug wires went bad at the same time and GM's extended warranty only covers ONE defective wire. The dealership gave me nearly $100 off the cost of the repairs as a loyalty bonus. They also replaced my pcv valve and filters, did an oil change (it was almost due for one so I let them do it), and replaced my wiper blades. Had I know what they would have charged me for the plugs and air filter I would have done them myself. Still, the discount worked out for that.

Total cost of repairs for Alero = $404.xx
Total cost of repairs for Daytona = $444.xx

I had the 2.4..... Now I have the 3400 and I haven't had a problem at all. You just need to give it some love and it'll love you back.

Also, bad plug wires don't have anything to do with size of the engine, it's just something that happens...

I've known many of GM 60 degree v6s that went well beyond 250,000 miles. Most of them were sent to the junk yard for other reason besides the engine. I'm not gong to get in a Ecotec debate with you but from personal experience I'd rather have a 60 degree v6.
