i know ive seen it before but cannot find it or on any wesbite. i remember reading something about disconnecting the tube connected to the back of the resivour and letting it pour out into something? is this while the car is on? wont it hurt every part of the car draining it dry like that running? or is this not the right way?

I use the turkey baster method. Suck the fluid out and refill with fresh fluid. You won't get all the fluid out of the system using this method. I do this over a few days and I'm good to go.

Personally I don't like running the car while the hose is disconnected as I don't like to see a pump run dry. I also don't like to introduce air into the system but I hear it easy to bleed the system.

i did the same. My car and my moms 'stang. (hers had horrible power steering squeel)

suck some out, refill with new. turn wheel all the way left, all the way right. repeat until you stop sucking out bad/dark fluid.

I've heard disconnecting the low pressure return line, letting it run into a bucket (refill any that falls out before you start the engine).

Then have someone start the engine, turn the wheel, and keep dumping fluid in until the hose stop spitting out dirty junk.

don't keep doing it over a long period. baste out fluid, pour new in... turn the wheel a bunch... pull out fluid, pour in new...turn the wheel a bunch. you can do it all in under and hour.

it'll take a few rounds for it to start getting clear.
