Suckin Gas

so as you might kno i got my fuel pump replaced a week or 2 ago and before i had it replaced i was getting a good 25mpg city/38mpg hwy and now that i got it replaced im getting about 16mpg city/30mpg hwy and i cant understand why im sucking so much gas. I had a full tank (10gal i believe) and i went from the full marker to half tank marker and got 85 miles on my odo. and thats driving the same i was with the old fuel pump. Im a cruise addict so everytime im driving you kno the cruise is on.

Anyone kno what could be causing it? or even a guess?

I'll guess the gauge is reading differently if the sending unit was also replaced. See what you get when you use up almost a full tank, when it gets near empty, you might want to carry a couple gallons with you.

I noticed the same thing. I guess the gauge idea is possible. I gotta keep an eye on this thread, since its the EXACT problem I'm having.

went from 26hwy to 20hwy

Did u actually measure your MPG correctly or did you say "I think I had 10 gallons now that I'm at half take what I got (80) divided by 5 = answer" .

Make sure what you're doing is after you fill up reset the miles and drive it until you need to get gas again. when you fill up take the number of miles on your odometer divided by the total number of gallons you put into the car after fueling.

Then we can continue this.

but it was the first fill after the fix... i'm giving it another go, but it appears to be doing the same again.

Got 22mpg last time... calculated as per fill. I did notice I was a little under 1/4 and put in 9.x gallons. So my gauge is off....

but 22mpg is still quite low compared to my 25-6 average before hand.

Just calculated my last 2 tanks to ~24mpg highway driving. (LA1)

I did notice my gas needle is off by a bit... but its no big deal. (I just need to readjust how I read it)

But by replacing the fuel pump, I lost 2-3mpg. WTF!
