EGR Delete using salvage parts?
So I recently learned that the Pontiac Aztec did not have the EGR delete on it's LA1 3400 engine, I haven't verified this yet but I am interested. So does anyone know if the aztec did not have EGR and will the necessary parts needed mate with our LA1 engines? Also I think I have a pretty good idea of the parts but to make sure what parts would I need for something like this?

Mods in consideration: Painted intake manifold, (still gotta replace my lifters, planning on using MMS improved lifters), Stage 2/3 NA Camshaft, CAI, Battery relocation, upgrade stock Kicker speakers with the stock upgrade ones from WalMart, (I blew one of my rear bass speakers, )

Why domt you just remove yoir EGR and add block off plates? Then tune it out so it won't throw codes. Thats how mine is done.

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from, but the Aztek does have an EGR valve because it's an emissions control device. Milzy Motorsports sells an EGR delete kit but you also have to tune the PCM as Sleepy said to avoid getting SES codes. Removing the EGR valve is also illegal in some states that require vehicle emissions inspections.

http://www.v6z24.com/specs/3400specs <I got my information from this.
I also talked with some tuners in my area and they said that the egr system doesn't steal that much power. So why do we delete the egr system, and why don't they think that it matters?

I deleted my EGR to have a little cleaner motor internally. The EGR recirculates exhaust gases back into the motor to make the fumes less "toxic".
Well, all that it shoves back in the motor males everything alot dirtier. Without it ive notice a major difference on how clean my UIM/LIM stay with it gone.

Good to know Sleepy, It would appear, since you mentioned the dirt, that it would help keep the engine at optimal power output due to decreased grime. I'll have to look into this.

I jist did a 800+ mile trip with the alero. With no egr, no cat, and all my mods. Doing 80 mph with cruise set. I was getting 28.6 mpg per tank. If I kept it at 65-70 I would have gotten better.

Awesome lol. There is times where I wish she got better. But 28 mpg with only a 13 gal tank goes by quick because of the small tank. My buddies bonneville is 19 gallon and ran out of fuel quicker then my car. He was averaging 19-20 mpg while I was at 28 mpg lol

My EGR was deleted for a few years and I didn't know it. It wasn't really deleted but set at the max temp of 286.
Went to Michigan and I only got 29 maybe 30 MPG. Turned the EGR back on, back up to 33-36 MPG range.
I love it because a lot of 4 bangers get those kind of MPG's, but the V6 is a lot more fun.
Leave the EGR alone and focus on better mods for your money

^I really doubt that just enabling an EGR will produce that big a percentage increase in mileage all by itself. musta been a tailwind or something lol

I kinda agree. The alero seems to get better MPG loaded down anyway.
And the EGR deleted you will usually only lose 1-2mpg really.
Fisdads alero got better gas mileage loaded down then it did with him only in it.

the reason the egr helps is because it lowered the amount of vacuum fighting the throttle blade. less power robbing because of that. much like a desiel that doesn't have a throttle blade and only control engine speed by the amount of fuel added and turbo pressure.
