So i bought these OEM rims for my wife's Mazda5 to use as Winters as they were a Great deal @ $100
My plan was to paint them black but 2 of the rims are in ruff shape tho.
Please help with steps i should take to remove and prep to spray with rattle can. I want to do it right the first time.

Canadian tire, paint section, Heirloom heavy body paint and varnish remover, gel type.
Brush it on, works really fast. Scrape rim with plastic scraper to get it off. I put a rim on a plastic bag on the floor in garage. Don't get it on the rubber if there is any or if you plan to use the rubber it has on it. Wipe down with rags and brake parts cleaner, this will remove residue. Sand the damaged areas down. Now hit it with plasti-dip, paint, polish... etc...

Thanks for the quick response!! sounds straight froward. No rubber mounted yet no worry there but Sanding? by hand ? what grit?. only painted wood before.

If they are winter only wheels. Is there a need to fix them up to look nice? They will just get eaten up again.

you're going to want 120 on that bad area to start. Then 180, 400 and down to as far as you want to go man. If it was me, Id strip all four, quick sand on bad spots, then spray em with caliper paint. Winter rims, don't kill yourself on it... lol If you have a small sander, Id use it and save the arm. Stripping them is not as bad as you think either. Once you get going its done really quick

as long as the bead mating surfaces are ok, those rims wont get worse in a way to cause harm other then looks. save yourself the money and put it towards a nice dinner
