Opinions on tails?

Ok, after using the handy-dandy search button i came up with a new idea for my tails...and possibly avoid police encounters
i'm considering tinting them, but leaving circles around the bulbs, diameters from inner to outer, 3in, 2in, 1in. Also, i would tint the reverse light and turn signals

REAL PICS ON PAGE 2 NOW!
Ok heres a pic of what i mean, and check out my MAD paint skillz

The reason i would leave the circles is because its technically illegal to tint your tails here, so i figure as long as some part of the red is showing i should be ok, it would be like rowdygls' tails, but with niteshades and no reverse/signals

Should this be in appearance section?

It's a good idea, especially if you think you'd have trouble with the police. You should consider picking up some simple LED bulbs though, it'll give a very similar look (four bright red circles, assuming you leave the corner lights out).

I think there was a member here, with a blue/navy Alero who did that and I recall reading on his cardomain that those tails are illegal and that he gets pulled over a lot. Someone help me bring up the name of who did that. But again just what I heard. Other than that looks cool, maybe leave reverse non tinted to give it a nice white contrast with the body color ?

if you wanna be cool, just take the tint, and cut out the olds symbol for the "red" personally, get the film, and see how long it takes you to get pulled over

Right, right, I remember now, they were colormatched. You should be fine then.

I dont know. If you are going to leave the circles, I would use regular paint of your choice color rather than nightshades. Light will still shine through the circles anyways.

like tdot said, using paint was illegal, besides light wont show through during the day, my lights wont be on so it'll be black during the day, then the stock looking illumination at night

^ Hadn't thought of it that way. Seems like an ok idea. And how are you going to do it for the turn signals, and the other taillight... lights? Im guessing tinting those would be illegal as well. Maybe you could paint lines like rida and whiterider.

That's the problem with Aleros, there isn't many aftermarket tailights options available, compared to other cars like Civics or let's say Accords. THe only thing we can do it either invest a whole bunch of $$ into cleared tails from a private seller or tint the tails ourselves. I'm out to jankyard next saturday to pick up a whole (LOTS) bunch of tails and heads to experiment with them. If I come up with anything interesting I will let you people know..

I'm pretty sure i'll be ok with both styles because what i was told by the state police is that there had to be red showing and reflecting, they didn't say anything about amber or white, as for the side lights I'm assuming that they can be tinted, after all they will show through the tint when illuminated, but i'll talk to the staties again, and if not then ill leave a spot the size of the bulb :P

As for painting lines, i originally wanted to steal whiterider's idea but that would be illegal because of full tint, and it would look rather silly if i left red in that design
