taking apart engine, anything to put in?
my cars nearing the 100k mark, (3400) and i gotta change the lower intake manifold gaskets. (its leaking out of the block and some into the coolant). is there any parts that i should replace when the engine is apart? I.E. timing chain, etc. also is there anything i can swap in there to boost some horsepower? I.E. cam etc. im not looking to do anything crazy, just somethin to acctually make it not so pointless. if somebody did a cam swap or something, what are some good brands and prices?
thanks alot,
kev

am i allowed to just buy a stage one or a stage 2 cam without any supporting mods? i know you can get all the gaskets there, but i dont know if they assume for you to have bigger bores n crap. all i pretty much have is a warm air intake, and a shift kit.

This cam was designed to be very streetable and that would work well on stock heads and run on a stock (or aftermarket tuned) PCM Computer. Although you will see gains around 25-30 extra Horsepower (depending on supporting mods), A set of Stage 1 Heads and a custom PCM tune would really compliment this cam nicely. with the stage 2 cam you need the stage 2 heads. im not sure on the gaskets

A stage 1 cam can be done with no other mods, but doing stage 2 requires the PCM, new heads, and lifters since the cam has more agressive lifts

Definitely get u a new timing chain and maybe sum new belts if u want to make horses, port n polish those heads, put a cam in, get sum forged pistons and tune ur shit. Youll make sum good numbers after that.

Yeah I would say if your going to do the cam, change the timing chain and gears, since you have to take them off to put the new cam in anyway
