gravity bleeding?

i have to bleed my brakes tomorrow. ive never tried gravity bleeding i always did the push pedal up and down method. i see alot of people say they prefer gravuty it just takes longer. id like to try it unless someone or a few people tried it on their alero and it didnt work. so has anyone tried gravity bleeding on their alero if so how did it work?

gravity bleed it first. then push the pedal method secound. the advantage to gravity bleeding is you wont have to push the pedal so much. however gravitiy bleeding alone will not get all the air out.

Because that would cost a few pennies extra! That and traditionally they usually don't have to be bled during the warranty period.

For my Escort that would be $15 x 4 + postage. And if I totalled the car I'd want to swap the OEM ones back in. It's great that you can buy stainless steel ones!

i changed my front calipers do i have to bleed the rear brakes now to or are they fine?

The modulator valve isolates the caliper feed lines, you dont have to, but I will say its a good idea just to have them all nice and clean!

i just gravity bled my brakes wow much better pedal i also did what you said and did some pdeal pumping with a friend after. once the lines was clear for 5 minutes i stopped gravity but man in the begining there was soooo much air. now i gotta do my rears. problem is i live in a apartment complex that doesnt allow jacks on their property so i have to figure out how to reach the bleeder without a jack :/

ive bleed them 6 times now ive been through 4 sets of calipers from napa complete garbage. you said stay away from autozone in past threads i wish i woulda went there these napa eclipse calipers suck

bleeding: Please tell me you DID NOT let up on the brake pedal with the bleeder open? If so, you're sucking in more air , thus could be the reason you are going thru so many calipers

We always go through Napa for our calipers at the shop I work at, mainly because they include the brackets. I can't remember any time we've had any problems with them. What kind of problems are you having?

ive been through 4. they wouldnt bleed any of them pistons were froze. they all sayd pyb from australia on them. so i went to a different napa tried them they didnt have the pyb australia and they work fine alls the ones that went bad on my car had that pyb on them. so either bad reman job or just crappy brand. or just bad luck but its all good now.

guy at autoparts store said the brakes are connected in criss cross so the passanger front and driver rear would be connected and driver front and passanger rear connected meaning instead of the two front and two back connected its criss cross so when you change calipers you still need to bleed the rears ive never heard of that before is he right?

He's right. They started doing it that way so that if you blow out a brakeline, or a seal in your master cylinder, you don't lose both sides on one end of your car. You're more likely to keep control if you lose front left and rear right braking, or vice versa, than if you lose both fronts and lock up the rears.
