Well, I finally was able to run my car last Friday night. I went up to a little 1/8 mile track in Dothan, AL. I ran a best of 9.77. I was quite impressed, I was expecting to be in the low tens. I went up there with a friend that has a stock GLS and he ran a best of 10.44. It was a good comparison between a stocker and a non-stocker. I was just wondering if there might be anybody out there that might have an idea to what this would translate to in the 1/4.

Its hard to say what that would mean in the 1/4, as would it for any car, because cars vary greatly in how well they launch, their aerodynamics and horsepower, so it can vary quite a bit...
Your car isnt stock? What mods do you have?

A very rough gauge would be 10.00 = 16.00 seconds. Final is right in that the actual 1/4-mile ET would vary greatly on the track, weather, your launch, shift points, and how your car is set up.
What was your 60' time and 1/8-mile mph?

The summer at Gap I my best run was a 15.733 1/4 @ 86.2mph
60ft- 2.334
1/8 - 10.1 @ 68.71
This was with CAI, SLP exhaust and an ASE chip.
On a very hot and humid day.
What all do you have done?
I ask because I have a slip from gap where I ran against a Grand Am that turned
a 15.164 1/4 @ 89.6mph, and the 1/8 time was 9.748 @ 74.03, 60ft was 2.345
If you're doing that with rougly the same mods that I have, I'm impressed......
Care to post the slip?

Sorry I don't have a scanner right now to post the slip...I'll get it up as soon as I can, but here are the times from my two best runs...
reaction-.964
60ft-2.219
330ft-6.333
594ft-9.139
1/8 et-9.766
1/8 mph-71.86
reaction-.921
60ft-2.226
330ft-6.354
594ft-9.176
1/8et-9.792
1/8mph-73.07
Like I said, I was kind of shocked at the times. Just remember, I'm at sea level, even up in AL, and it was about 55 degrees outside. Plus the track was very sticky I had no tire spin at all when I launched. As for mods, CAI, Removed cat and resonator, custom exhaust, Jet Power Control Unit, and Auto Trans Interceptor. I also think that having the car lowered aids in my launches.
How do you like the ASE chip? I was thinking of scrapping the Jet unit and buying an actual chip. I need to change my shift points and fuel curve.

I think the launch is super critical. At gap most everyone was spinning bug time off the line.
I don't have any complaints with the ASE at all. I'll be getting into the territory soon where I might have to pull it out and put my stock cojmputer back in. I'll have to wait and see what happens when the TB and ported upper go on.
You should try a run without the JET module on if you can. Everything I've heard from those who had owned one for the GA or Alero is that they don't do anything.
Can you tell any difference with and without it?
Hopefully we can get a group together (5 cars) and go to DHP in Detroit or Chicago to get some custom tuning done. That doesn't help you much, living as far south as you do.

Yeah, I'll try running without the Jet next time, but it does seem to push me about two more bars into the rich side on my AF meter.

Be careful racing on the roads. I've seen too many awful wrecks, cars getting impounded, and people getting arrested when I used to steet race. I'm trying to get away from that and stick to legal racing.

There are grand ams that are running 14.85-15.1 N/A. The ones that are doing that have H/I/E and port work to their UIM, LIM, Heads and a larger TB for the most part.

The 2 supercharged GA's that Pontiac brought to GAP were only running 14.8's and into the 15's when they let everyone drive them.
15.1, I think that race I was up against sorry officer from GAGT who has major headwork done among other things. I took him off the line, the all I could do was watch as he caught me fast and pulled away!
I think spaz's fastest Supercharged non-nitrous run was 14.6, his fastest with the juice was 13.81.

With knowing that these GA's were running those times with all of those mods. How is it possible that I pulled similar times with no internal mods at all? Any theory would be great to hear.

Its hard to say without any mods you wont be running low 15s in the 1/4 unless you have a serious factory freak. Get a full 1/4 time then compare.

Plus you have to factor in weather, heat humidity, wind, elavation.
Track conditions - track conditions at GAP were piss poor. How much extra/less weight you had compared to stock.

You can factor in my subs (two 12's), and my amp. I don't have any of my factory exhaust except for my headers. This probably got rid of some weight, but that was instantly canceled out by the speakers. I'll try to get to a 1/4 mile track, but I have to go to Jacksonville or Atlanta to find one. Everything around here is 1/8 mile.
