Broken Shifter Button

As i was driving one day the button on my shifter randomly fell out! There is an extruded plastic rectangle that slides in and out stills secure in the shifter. The button seems to have snapped off where it contacts this extrusion. I can still put the button in the hole and shift by applying pressure to the side it engages but i need to fix this.

I searched around and didn't find much of anything so has this happened to anyone? My friend who owns an auto auction suggests a little epoxy. Seems to me like the only quick fix. Possibly risky because the button must maintain contact with the plastic it broke off of while not becoming seized to the shifter itself.

Any input?

junk yard or ebay. You can just buy a new shifter for less than $10. Best solution you're gonna find I think.
