Fill up your tanks when you leave, and reset your trip meter. Save all your gas receipts for the trip and do the math when you show up.
Who will get the best mileage!? Winner doesn't have to pay as much for gas!!!

Lowest was 31 highest was 34.5
Total round trip from Northern Philly Burbs, to Lansing and back, includeing an IN detour: 1458.9 miles

hehe...I just added up my receipts
33.5 gallons
995 miles
29.68 miles per gallon
not too bad considering I set the cruise to 90mph from Cleveland to Buffalo (200 miles)

I took the long way, and I got just under 26mpg when I filled up in GR. That was with a lot of 80mph highway driving and quite a bit of running around the city, too.
