Soooo, recently...like last night I decided to take my red and black theme to the interior of my car. So i decided to change all of my interior bulbs to red. I bought some red bulbs for under the dash, in the foot well, and they looked good. Then, I went ahead to change the dome lights and the mirror lamps. I was at the store and found just what i needed. Or so I thought... I bought some red gel sleeves for dome lights. I went home content, slipped them on the bulbs in the mirror and admired my work. Then, I sat in my garage sitting in my car, proudly staring at my new red mirror lamps. I then smelled this burnt rubber smell and couldn't figure out what it was. A second later, I looked up and smoke was coming from my mirror! WTF? :o I was pissed! issed: Later reading the box...I read, PATENT PENDING.

Yeah, the one in my trunk did that for a little bit when it was new.
Probably should stop after a little while, mine did. The ones in my mirrors
have been there for a while without any problems.
(You bought those at Autozone didn't you.)
I did all mine in blue. They go with the indiglow gauges.

It takes years to get a patent. They put that on labels so they can sell it without a patent and not have their idea stolen.
Sorry, but that's just a little funny, smoking red lights. Hell on wheels. Good news is, all that is probly smoking is the film itself, worst case you'll have to buy a new bulb, if you can't scrape the stuff off.

Just like the rest of us here i too wanted to change the color of my interior lights (dome and mirror). I bought the 211-2B bulbs in blue. A couple of days later the bulbs faded back to a whitish color, not blue at all. I took them out and they still were colored blue. wtf?!? Whats this contact paper? Or what are some really nice bulbs/LEDs that will fit?

can always use tissue paper cut it to fit the lens and use some clear glue stick to hold it in place thats what i always used to cheeply change landscape lighting (notalways lowvoltage) works and easyly changeable/removable..
