Matt visits the dyno
Strapped her to the rollers today to get it tuned.
Numbers are a bit on the low side since it was a Mustang Dyno, which generally reads lower than a Dynojet.
Plus, I ran under some fairly restrictive conditions - a stock airbox, heavy wheels/tires and a pretty warm day (temps hovering around 90).
Dyno operator says I need hotter plugs, and to use copper-core (stay away from iridiums). We'll see.
NO KR until we ran hot and the PCM triggered the CAT coolant protection.
Anyway, we ended up with 194WHP and 196WTQ, which I figure is right around 240HP/245LB-FT at the flywheel.
While the peak numbers aren't earth-shattering, the amount I picked up down low was pretty incredible (over 20WHP at some points). Car scoots pretty well.
Not a bad increase for only having a ported top-end, mild cam and headers.
Track times when I get around to it.
Ben hates my seats.

Neat. What gear did you do the pulls in, and how did you keep it from downshifting?

Your seats ruined my ass today. With the COT turned off, it would have kept all that timing in there too, but I have a lot to learn on OBD2. Let me know on the MPG when you fill it back up. Really curious what the spark timing and VE tune did for that.

2nd for most of the tuning, because 3rd was causing the COT issue. Did the last run in 3rd to compare with the 1st run. HPtuners lets you select what gear your transmission is in.

To give you an idea of what we gained (for peak numbers anyway), the very first pull we did in third gear returned 170WHP/168WTQ. Last run (also in third gear was 194WHP/196WTQ). I'm pretty happy.
Next up - a 200 shot of giggle gas!
Maybe not.....not quite ready to divorce the transmission.

On mine it would still downshift. It works the same as moving the shifter to 3 or 2 or 1. That only stops it from shifting any higher than that gear, but it still downshifts if TPS vs. RPM is met.

Pretty damn good, that's about 54 WHP more than what a typical stock engine does, iirc, and within 10 of what I got with the basic Magnuson kit.

ACDelco plugs are only available in one heat range higher in a copper plug..

Thanks for the positive comments.
We were hoping to hit that magic 200WHP number, but I picked up a new saying - "Go to a Dynojet for numbers; go to a Mustang Dyno for a tune."
Speaking of which, here's the dyno sheet for anyone who cares:
http://wot-tech.com/shop/images/Dyno...280%20Dyno.JPG
This car wants lots of fuel and timing.
You will see the dip in HP and torque, which is where the blip of KR (1 degree) showed up due to the CAT overtemp protection.
The cam makes power all the way to 6000RPM.
We only saw about 19 degrees of WOT timing on this run due to running so hot.
We'll see if hotter plugs make any difference, but I'll probably run it at the track first before changing anything.

you know what you need? MSD ignition I bet that you help.
other than that I think it did really well on the dyno for #'s for the small amount of stuff you did to it

MSD coils are pointless and the DIS-4 will only help a little with MPG.
