Time to start considering new tires :(
Okay so I usually buy Mastercraft tires, but my tire guy ripped me off by selling me a couple Fuzion touring tires for the same price as the better Mastercrafts.
I am now considering new tires since mine are becoming worn on all four corners after swapping the Fuzion tires for the Summits that came with the car when I bought it two years ago almost exactly...
So the quest began I have considered Nitto, Yokohama, Toyo, and Michelin. Then it was between Nitto and Yokohama, since there was really only one choice in the Nittos for my stock 16" rims I decided to study into the Yokohama tires and then put them up against the Nittos in comparison.
The Yokohama tires I have under consideration are S.Drive, Advan Sport, and Advan S.4. (eventually I want to get another set of rims and grab a set of Advan Neova AD08 R for their handling.)
I was wondering if anyone was running or had any experience running the S.drive, Advan Sport, or Advan S.4. tires and what your opinion on them were.

I like that the Nitto tires that the guy priced me where under 120 usd a piece. They were the NT450's: http://www.nittotire.com/Tire/nt450

Yeah I'm sure those are good too. These when I got them were 105 a tire.

Hey I've been meaning to ask you sleepy how long did your car take I mean she's awesome.
-figured since I made the thread it gives me the right to stray a small bit from the topic for a while-

Your thread your rules homie.
Well its no where near close to done. Doing a turbo build on it. But I've had the car for just about 6 years now. Took me about 2 years into owning the car to decide I wanted to mod it and everything. I'm getting some new wheels in the next few weeks. Then will probably just save my money from now on for the build...

When I finally get around to buying new tires for my Alero, I will be getting the Dunlop - SP Sport Signature tires for it. I have Yokohama Avid Touring S tires on my Escort and I like them as well.

Thanks for the info man, I'll probably end up seeing what everyone throws out and comparing them all. Should be interesting.

About the same here, but my inspiration came from a deer playing chicken with my passenger side fender, after that happened my imagination started going wild. From a twin turbo'ed v6 that could produce 1000hp tuned to bring on 1500ft-lb torque to a body kit and lambo doors... but as you can imagine reality soon set in as I searched the internet for some way to work toward the twin turbo'ed 1000 hp 1500ft-lb torque v6 -_- as far as I can tell you'd have to buy the equipment design the engine architecture, machine all the parts, get them to work, build the trans to put up with all that torque... in all I figured it would take years and easily 100,000+ usd, so that got scratched real quick. So now I'm browsing around cooking up a plan for a super street alero for the future, and I'm trying to design a vortec insert, something like the tornado insert which is supposed to make vehicles get 7-28% better gas mileage and adds 4-13 hp. ( http://tornadoair.com/ ) but the biggest problem, pointed out by my dad, is that it could get sucked into the engine and slag it.

No experience, just knowledge about how a cars intake system works and they don't do anything but possibly help your seat dyno...if anything most of the super cheap too good to be true performance enhancing devices are too good to be true and in a lot of cases not only often decrease performance values but risk messing stuff up

You sound really young and very inexperienced. Don't touch your car until you learn more about them.
Not trying to be a rooster, just trying to save you headache/embarrassment in pursuing ridiculous modifications.

Yes... do not buy those stupid intake things... it's basically a scam to make easy money.... just like chips for the alero. Those also DO NOT work. You need real modifications... A cold air intake. A real exhaust system. Headers. Real stuff. Not ebay junk.
And not to burst your bubble. But there will be no way to get the 3400 engine to 1000 he and 1500 ft lbs tq... you will never see that number unless you drop in a drag motor and convert it to RWD.
These cars are EXPENSIVE to make fast... believe me I've done all my research. My turbo build will cost me anywhere between 15k-30k$ and with all that in the car guess how much HP it will ring out? Probably a max of a little over 500.... which I'll be happy with that.
And as for the twin turbo... unless you do rear mount turbos that's also near impossible. Unless you have the F40 6 speed trans. Then it's quite simple. But you wouldn't be able to run very big turbos. Gotta think... you want one big turbo or two smaller ones?
But yes. Do research before modding.... There is TONS of stupid things you can do to these cars that is just a waste of money and will get you laughed at for doing them.
I've got 13k in my car right now. And that's not even toward building the car...

I was never gonna buy it, I was gonna try to build something like it from sheet metal because I thought I might be able to recreate the effects of a gm 4.3l vortec intake manifold, but now that I think about it that engine was one of gm's fails. My friend has a s-10 with one and it has hardly any power. (Didn't help that he killed it with an exhaust mod)
As for tuning, the only hands on experience I have is with brakes and exhaust systems. I do how ever have knowledge of the other aspects which all began with an article on HKS's website ( https://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/basic_tuning/02.html ) and from there I've added to my knowledge from other articles, and reading the chilton repair manual for imports from 1987. (primitive Porsche turbo systems are very interesting)
As for being young, yeah I am 22 years old, and I wish that I hadn't had to live through the experiences of my teen years to get me where I am in the realm of cars and trucks. I once had a Toyota T-100, precursor to the Tundra, I was being stupid as kids are and was driving 70 on a dirt road topped a hill ramped a highway, flew through the air, landed nose first on another dirt road, bent the A-frames, messed up the steering column and the shift selector, deployed the airbag, my spare tire passed me... It's a wonder that didn't kill me and my best friend. I'm not as young as some people, but I am young... My dad is getting close to his 60's if not already there, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can from an old gearhead I call my dad while I still have him around.
So I am here not just to learn, but to help, and to throw any crazy engineering ideas I have out so that I can get some feedback.
The "vortec" insert was one such engineering idea...
end rant
and someone should post that tuning guide somewhere people that are newer to the idea could find it, just throwing that out there...

The other intake idea I had was to run a cai pipe to the lower part of the car where the fog lamps are on higher classed cars and fabricate a scoop in the one on the driver side, leave enough room for a cai filter at the end of the pipe and screen the front of the scoop over so bugs wouldn't get in there and then cover the holes in the front with that grille mesh that they sell for those holes, to make it look better, but then it looks like I'd have a problem with water, so I'd need to put the filter on up under the hood and create a trap to keep water out of the intake... <-- oh, that probably wouldn't work but I'll go ahead and post it to see what everyone else thinks. <-- posting my thoughts, -_- this is why I try to not think while posting...

Don't nock the 4.3 man. Iv got one in my 1500 and I would to see what an s10 would do with proper mods.
Cai on eBay will get ur filter behind your fog light. That's where everyone has been getting them. Would consider upgrading the filter element though . The eBay filters are a cheap knock-off K&N style.
I had one... I didn't like it after a while. Snow and ice and water would build up In the winter and would need constant re oiling. Turned it into a wai and left it that way.

Sorry man the only experience I have with the v6 vortec engines were in my friends 2002 s10 and it (the truck in general) needed help.
