Im sure most of u had already tried this, but if u want to have some with ur car or someone elses car this is all u need
1. A front wheel drive vehicle
2. A surplus of lunch trays(McDonalds, taco bell...etc...)
3. A really big open parking lot ( no poles, preferably)
Back ur car up so teh rear heels are in the middle of teh trays. Pull up your hand brake and launch the car. Cut the wheel whatever way u want and u will send it into a violent and hopefully controlled spin. It is more fun than it sounds like...trust me.
P.S.- I didnt know where to post a strory like this, but since i have an ecotec i thought it would be good here. I will move if i have to

I've done it a few times with my car. I pulled out of one donut once and romped the gas, lit up the tires for a good 300 some feet. Couldn't even see out of my side windows. It was beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

How could you break the CV joints by doing this?

Sliding sideways....wheels are meant to go straight, not sideways. Having the wheel push in on the joint could break it.
Thats why you gotta be sure to always keep some foward movement if you do this, it takes a lot of stress off of the suspension and what not.

If you guys really want I could go make a video of it real quick, I seriously have nothing to do right now. Of course it would be better in my car. Bunch more torque then an ecotec = more smoke!

Well if you aren't too agressive the only thing you really have to worry about are the trays melting and wearing down so your rear tires contact the ground. And then you could flat spot them.
Or you could be a complete moron and get up to like 40mph and then turn the wheel and go slidding off into a curb. Now that will break your car.

well, you'll be throwing a SVS, for no signal from the real VSS's. it will be hard on the drivetrain, in particular the 1/2 shafts/CV joints. Not to mention the heat it will generate.
But have fun!

I've drifted my Alero once.....but that was in the snow....going downhill......backwards.....with the non-abs brakes locked.....had to spin it around to regain control. It was kinda fun, and scary, but not something I would do on dry pavement.

If anyone does try it, heres a little tip. Use trays from golden coral or a plcae like that. The trays are fiberglass and they dnt wear down as quick as those peices u get at the neighborhood taco bell
