Rob's build thread
May be slow, but its happening. I have aquired new employment which will allow me to pay my bills and have money for fun (my car) I am starting with my intake manifolds and working my way down from there. I have an lx5 Throttle body waiting until the boys at WOT-Tech finish the cable bracket. once i get those parts together I will be either finding a machine shop close by or buying a grinder and porting my manifolds. (yes these are all just plans right now but they actually will happen) I have a set of 17s from a bonneville to replace the grand am gt torqued wheels which as you all know will allow me to upgrade my brakes. What I am trying to achieve is a summer/drag car. I'll be shooting for low 14s which will make it the fastest car i have owned. (kinda sad considering i owned a turbo supra with 320 BHP (only went down the track in 14.5. After I reach my goal, ill be considering boost.
Anyway enough rambling. here (un-named car)
This is just the beginning. With everyone's support and patience my ho will turn out to be something more then i ever expected.

I would start with that intake. Having the filter basically mounted directly to the MAF is not helping. You need some distance between the MAF and the filter to straighten flow.

Not a bad start at all. Good luck.
Will you be gutting the car, or will it be a "pro street" type car?

I will be keeping the interior intact, my intake is short right now because NY winter. my cold air intake was trashed last winter and i kept the car clean. @unchained, My supra was a 87 hard top. had the r154 5 speed, LSD rear end and the 7m-GTE (imported from jap-land) the stock motor blew so we had one shipped in. anyway i had the stock ct-26 turbo and a mbc set to 12 psi. it ran great and built boost fast but the rear end started making noise then my tranny started going, then the turbo started getting a LOT of shaft play. I called it quits on that poor car.
anyway, After winter is when things will pick up for the car and ill start modding.

that time has come. my coolant light comes on randomly at times of hard accel. sometimes. and i have notices coolant leaking from the lower gasket area. so first mod, metal lower gasket set. <not a mod but who cares. then this spring making sure the alero is not in need of any repairs. then possibly diving into headers after my 65mm tb is on with ported manifolds. what could i expect for track times after ported mani's 65mm tb and headers/down pipe?

I could get you into the 14's with those mods. I managed a 14.9 with just a downpipe and exhaust mods, before engine build and headers. Your gears are a little taller than what I had but still, headers and intake mods will get you 14's on a good tune

@mmgt1, due to a turn of events my build will cease on the alero and continue onto the grand am gt1. (basically my wife took over ownership of the alero) but now i am working with the shorter gears. right now the grand am needs the following, passenger fender, passenger front door and GT tails because the previous owner swapped them out for SE tail lights >_< and i have to fix the muffler because the kid who put it on, put it on backwards so my tail pipes are o short i cant put tips on it.

Throw up some picks of the GT1 man! Not a lot of guys had a true GT1, yea it was just a trim package but it sure as shit hyped the price on them! I bought mine new in 2000 and sticker was 32,500. Once delivery, taxes, interest on paying it off over 6 years was in, I was 42G's out of pocket. Was worth every penny to me as I had taken out a Grand Prix GTP of the same year for a test drive and HATED IT... lol thats another story though

and back when i was all about my alero i swapped the wheels from the gt over to the alero. and havent put them back.

once summer hits i will. it has one rust trouble spot and thats by the fuel door.
other then that the paint has a TONNE of swirl marks and cat hair scratches. not to mention we hit a deer with it and it needs a passenger front fender and a front passenger door. >_< but i got my dual post mirrors and i should be throwing them on today. seeing that its supposed to be nice out.
