are you using the stock mount brackets?????? if so just pop the factory 6x9s out and very CAREFULLY pop your new 6x9s in. some real short screws will also help out as you can screw the new 6x9s into the brackets cuz the brackets have holes already there for screws that do work for aftermarket 6x9s. just do not try to put the aftermarket grills on the 6x9s lol! the rear deck cover has the raise above the 6x9s that should give you more then enough clearance to accomidate ANY 6x9s you buy. i stuffed some Boston NX97s under the rear deck cover using the factory mount brackets myself....then i blew them things off the factory HU n amp cuz i played ICP real loud with 2 much bass :P. what i dont get is the fact that the FX93 has a bigger magnet then the NX97.....lemme show yall :P.

I have seen two brackets listed on this site. I don't know if they are dedicated to monsoon versus non monsoon or year. The bracket for my 2003 GLS monsoon was just like dt_freak1's. They raise the speaker a good one to two inches and allow plenty of clearance for any magnet. If you think you have the smaller bracket then go to a dealer and price one for my year and model.
DT_freak1. You may have blown the 6x9 by underpowering them. Distortion from underpowering will fry a speaker just as quick as overpowering.

My car didnt come with the monsoon package. I got a 2000 GL 4 door. The speakers i got go in nice but i cant screw em down. The stock speakers had some clip on it to hold it down to the rear deck, Id have to pre-drill some holes to bolt the new ones down. I got some American Racing XC900;s there pretty nice, cant wait til i get my rockford fosgate power stage 3 subs tho

drill some holes and screw them in. id recommend self tapping screws, but they'd be hard to use with how low the rear window is
