225/50-15?
Has anybody ran a 225/50-15 on an alero? Im curious because I am dropped on Canuck springs, with the stock steelies (215/60-15) The tires are about done and im in need of somewhat temporary replacement. I wanted a lower profile tire just to kind of try it and see how i liked it before dropping money on nice tires and rims to find out that I hate it.
Looking on tire rack I found these,
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
They look pretty good. And at ony $65 a piece its not a huge loss if they turn out sucky.
The biggest concern I have is that with the smaller tire, its going to throw off the speedo a bit, and I will sit a little lower than I am now. It should only be by about a half an inch or so, but is this going to cause a huge problem?

I'm running 225/50/15 tires on my alero.
According to miata.net tire calculator. which I calculated our stock tire size (225/50/16) to 225/50/15, the diameter is 23.9 inches while the stock tire size is 24.9. So in summary it says "speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 4.0% too fast, when your speedo reads 60 mph you're actually travelling 57.6 mph"
Also with a smaller tire, your odometer will go up faster, more wear and tear on your transmission etc. but who cares? At least your gear ratios will be different lol.
I will try to post up a picture of my alero with the 225/50/15 tires, but my car isn't lowered, but you will get the idea.

Pictures would be greatly appreciated.
But, with a smaller tire, wouldnt that mean that my speedo would read too slow? not too fast? Because the tires are spinning faster correct?

They would be spinning at the same rate but would be covering a shorter distance per rotation due to them having a smaller radius.

Meaning that they would still be making more revolutions in that same amount of distance, aka faster? right?

yes, you would be making more revolutions in the same distance but the speed of the revolutions will be the same as before so really you are taking more revolutions to cover the same area as before hence slower.

I'm running winter Yokohama 225/50/15 on my Alero and no problems. I actually find it that it drives better than on my summer 215/60/15.

Not at all. The difference in tire size is very slight, not enough to visually 'drop' the car.
As for tint I think it is illegal here too.. had it on for 4 years and never been harrassed for it.

Looks kinda goofy, but maybe because there aren't any hubcaps on the car.
A 225 is going to ride better than a 215 because it's a silghtly bigger footprint

I think its settled then. I'll go with those Kuhmo 225s then.
The biggest thing im concerned with is its about 3/4 inch difference in size. Im low enough as it is and scrape just about everywhere I go.
