Traction issues
When I take the Alero to the track, I can't get it to hook up to save my life. The tires on my black rims, SUCK, but I swap out a pair of stockers on the front with Fuzion brand tires on them. They gripped pretty good way back when, but now they don't .
Ebrake doesn't work very well and even when it does, it drags the car forward with the rear wheels locked.
Looking to pick up some used tires. Don't want to go with drag radials or slicks because I want to drive to and from on the tires (no laziness, I take the Alero to the track on import days and those import punks will steal anything they can. Seen it happen.)
Which brands should I keep an eye out for? Anything else I can do/buy/install to get better traction?

Change the wheels/tires at the track, take them to the Tech Shed if they have one, and ask if you can store the wheels and whatever else there. There are no tires that I know of that are street/strip for FWD that can do the job. Other than that, invite a friend that's got trunk space lol
Or invent a device that prevents the front end from lifting on launch.
oh, yeah, pump up the back tires as high a psi as is safe.
don't race in the heat of summer, either

There was something for the W body cars. It was a plate connected to the rear control arms with U bolts and a thick bolt style screw with a rubber bushing on top of it.
You would turn it up and it would not allow the car to put any weight on the back tires and force all the weight down on the front.
Never tried it because I figured it wouldn't be good to put that much torque on those control arms.
No tech shed. I could hide them in a few places though

There was one thing my buddy told me about but i forget.. Basically it locks your front springs in place so when you floor it the front end doesnt raise up to cause wheel spin.

Mike in Denver (scalero) tried that device years ago, but iirc he was not impressed with it.

I have kuhmo solus on my car and they work great on and off the track. Never thought cheap tires worked so well.

what about some thick peices of rubber thats realy stiff, stuff your rear springs with them so they wont compress.
