Something I've been wondering...

Did Aleros ever come with drum brakes?

I know the SE Grand Am's got them but did any base Aleros get the drum brakes, or hubcaps/15 inch rims for that matter?

I've always wondered how bare the Alero came in stock form.

Yup the Aleros came with drum brakes and hub caps. My girlfriend's Alero has rear drums and front calipers.

This is what the Alero hub caps look like:

Ouch... Never knew that one. So that would be the equivalent of a SE, a GX right?

See I'm thinking about doing a conversion on mine (I have drums, but don't have caps) but IDK if the rim diameter will clear the caliper.

Yeah the hub caps and drum brakes were standard for the GX models. GL models had drum brakes with optional disc for the 4 banger GLs.

I don't see why they wouldn't clear the calipers. They're 15" in diameter so there should be sufficient room. I also had my car on 15" steelies for winter without any issues as well. Absolute worst case is just buy a used set of Grand Am alloy rims... You could probably find a set around $100 and they would look much nicer.

Damn, Aleros had it better than. Grand Ams, although Grand Am's had fogs standard unlike the Alero, which seems to be an option.

Hmmm You right. I already have alloys though. My next move is 16" rims. The 5 spokes that were available on the 99-02 GT's.

I've actually posted pictures of my car on this forum.

http://www.aleromod.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36343

I couldn't do a Malibu. They're bland looking compared to the Alero/Grand Am twins. There's a reason why they sold the Alero in Europe and not the Malibu.

And yes, "datcandypaint".

I made it when I was listening to E40. I really like the song and I didn't really have anything else to name it. I hate coming up with user names and I didn't want to use "Nas Escobar".

This is the song that inspired the username lol

I take exception!
We didn't even get rear discs or traction control as options in my year!

Stock brakes are a waste.

Do you have 17" wheels or bigger? This will cost you the same $$$

http://www.aleromod.com/forums/showt...ghlight=brakes

And my car:

and

You can use stock 16" wheels on the front, IDK about the rear. I think you can
