as the title states? is there another oil pressure port on the 3400? or do we have to "t" off of where the factory oil pressure switch is?

another question along the same lines? on the 03' are the 02 sensors self heating? or do they heat up by the exhaust?

you have to T off from the factory port which houses the factory sending unit which is located above the starter

Do we know what size wrench or socket is needed to remove the factory sensor?

yeah get a deep well socket, for GM cars..........oh god i forgot what size, im sorry. i replaced my oil sending unit with an electric one from Faze. i didnt T it off cause it took up too much room. you really dont need that sensor to be honest. all it detects is if you have low oil......and its pretty common sense if you plug in a oil pressure gauge, and its reading low pressure then you obviously have low oil. or you can always check the old fashioned way (the dipstick)

doesn't the pcm read the factory oil pressure sensor?

no i dont think so, i know that little oil pressure plug read the info of low oil. the PCM probably manages the pressure but the oil sending light is just a sensor to sense low oil. your car can live without it, as long as you replace it with something, aftermarket wise.

There is no oil pressure signal to the PCM......the factory pressure sensor only connects to the idiot light on your IP, and it only comes on when oil pressure drops to 5 PSI or lower, at which point you're screwed anyway.

yeah so if you have an oil PSI gauge and you see that thing drop past 30, look into consideration of checking your oil. i bought the oil pressure gauge (electric) cause it was the only pressure type gauge i could afford, and looking back i think i made a good decision in buying it. it definatly isnt 100% accurate but you get a pretty good idea, that your psi ranges from 35-65. but yeah it's definatly a good thing to have, and it certainly is alot better than the stock sending unit.

were you talking to me? cause if you wanted pictures of mine i couldnt post em because my digicam sux, and that link that whats his name posted, is good so you know where the oil sending unit is. i made the mistake of taking the knock sensor out, and realizing it wasnt the oil sending unit cause it didnt have a hole on the bottom. but yeah that arrow to the green is the oil sender, and all you gotta do is unscrew that with a deep well socket and replace it with your aftermarket oil reader that came with your gauge, whether its mechanical or electric. im sure it wont be a problem with you cause all that guge is, +, -, and the wire that goes to your aftermarket oil sensor.

Tap it into the fuse box. Pull a fuse out, stick the wire in, jam the fuse back in.

yep!. i plugged mine into my sunroof fuse. so when ever you turn the car on it will tell the volts, instead of constantly telling the volts when the car is on or off.
