heat shield came loose
My heat shield came loose and its half on half off and RATTLING. Do i really need it or can i just take it off the rest of the way, because a couple body shops said just take it off or have them take it off. But some of my friends that work on cars said if you take your heat shield off ur car can catch "FIRE????" and that there are wires above it and all that. So since we all own aleros whats my best option. and i DID check the search so no bsing saying check the search.

Take it off, worst that could happen is a little bit of heat might be felt on the floorboards.

I vote leave it on. Got ignition heat sink near there and all.
In general, heat bad for engine compartment.

^^^ That's the manifold shields.. I think he's talkin about the cat shield.. which is pointless unless you like noisy noise.

I suppose if you parked over some tall grass or something it would be possible to start a fire...just don't do any off roading...and if you do, get your dad to put the bubble on top to warn everyone.

The shield goes between the Cat and the body of the car. It could catch grass on fire even with the shield being there.
it's very unlikely to catch grass like that. it'd have to be Really really dry.
