introduction/HELP!!

hello my fellow alero owners! lol, i have a 2003 olds alero 2.2 5 spd, i need some help! i have just ordered a 00-03 cavalier epmann short throw shifter kit(they should have identical set up) i took off my boot cover and i have no idea how i could disconnect the shift rods so i can unbolt the box and pull it out and swap the throw i am guessing you just pull the rod out of the throw?, please someone help!!

Ha! I have one sitting here as well. I got in there and pulled the bolts, shifter assembly still wouldnt move. X2 on needing some info!

exactly right! how the eff are you supposed to get it outta there lol, i really want a short shifter in this car, the stock throw might as well have a god damn s10 raised shifter ffs haha, let me know if you figure it out! i cant really play with it atm cause its my daily

the linkages connected to the throw seem like they are locked in for good

Don't quote me on this as it's been almost 2 years since mine as done and i no longer have the car to reference.... i think the linkage screws on.... you need to mark the positioning then unscrew them.... then pull the old shift arm out put in the short throw and reassemble... o think lol can't fully remember.... took me a couple hours to figure out as well!

Are you referring to the white and grey clips? That are built onto the shift cables?

Now that I see pics, if that's what you are referring to. It's like my car (I'm 6 speed swapped) if you reach your finger under the side of the clip with the hole, it will unsnap, it's a clip. Just kinda pull away and up and It will come off, then the line will slide out of that retainer. But be careful! These can be easily broken if you are to rough with them.


The big circular ones will probably need removed too, those are also clips, just give it a good look, you squeeze each side in and pull up, hope I helped.
