Rear 6x9 with Monsoon amp options.

Okay i know very little about car audio.
The Alero I'm currently driving has blown rear 6x9 speakers.
They have the 4 wires as this Alero has the monsoon amp.
I don't care wish to replace the Head unit only the rear 6x9

After reading though old threads can some one confirm if these are my options for replacement.

1- replace 6x9 with any 2wire 6x9 but only get lows.

2- replace 6x9 with 6.5 with 6x9 adapters and tweeters connecting all 4 wires.

I used a pair of Soundstream 6X9s three years ago and they still sound great. They have separate high and low freq inputs (if you leave off the crossovers), so they are easy to wire up.

I'm in the same situation. I have a blown rear speaker, so I'd like to replace both of the speakers in the back with some new 6x9's. However, I'm using an aftermarket head unit, which I'll likely also upgrade in the future once the rear speakers are fixed.

I also have a monsoon amp. If I'm using an aftermarket head unit, does the monsoon amp still amplify the speakers? If so, what are the color combinations for the high and low signals? If I can wire them up separately then I'll most likely look for speakers like linked above.

Thanks!
