well I learned something new yesterday...fixing the dam power windows. I removed the whole regulator and now know what the hell a regulator is. I replaced the white clips and put the cable and that lil fishing weight looking thing inside the white clip. I guess the reason its made out of plastic is since its rubbing up against that black metal rail regulator.
So how much did I save my girl doing it myself instead of sending it to the dealer?

What does this step mean and is it necessary?
Clean the window on both sides, apply some glass primer on the window, apply body primer to the sash, and then fill the sash with urethane.
also where do you get the parts from? autozone? a dealership??

Im very curious about the this ^^^ step as well. I think this is the problem with my alero. the window is constantly falling and is being held up with tape now.

man i wish this thread would have been around awhile back, i paid 120 for some jerkoff to fix it. he quoted us 50 and then is liek.. um... 160- and i laughed in his face and he bumped it down to 120. the window still isnt completly fixed- in fact, he made it worse then originally. the window still is slanted (rolls up and down at least) and everytime i close the door it rattles on the inside. no matter how lightly i close it

Like it said in the original thread, a glass shop that specializes in glass replacement but I just used some all purpose adhesive to attach the sash back to the window. Also used alcohol to clean the window before applying the adhesive.
I don't come here often but I thought it was pretty self explanatory in the original post.

Ok so i just took my car to a shop and they said that they didnt want to put a new clip in cause it will just break again and they said the only way to fix it for good is to get a new window thing which is like 250+ tax.... anyone else know of any ways to keep the clip from breaking?

Soooo which one is it either you didn't have the money to get it fixed or you did..wouldn't see the need to take it to a shop with out the money to get it fixed..... Anyway they must be banking that you had no knowledge of what was going on and just tried to feed you one to see if you would bite. It would be easier to just try...if it is broke now it can't get any worse.

i currently have 30 dollars to my name. i get paid on friday... my dad said he would throw down half way with me if i were to take it to a shop.. but 250 is more then i can afford (125). i know whats wrong with the window and i told em that and explained it thoroughly. they said it would just break again so they didnt want to fix it unless it was gonna be for good. i have like 0 car know how about taking anything apart... well i lied- i can take it apart, but whether i can get it back on the way it was is a different story... time for some trial and error

Ok, I bought the clip at the steelership, $14. Think I dropped $7 on some glue. (glues plastic to glass cool!). Screwdrivers for the doors, socket wretches in the 7-11 mm range (I dunno they're never in the set anymore), paint scraper, spatchula, Flat metal with a preferably sharper tip in the 2 inch wide neighborhood. (If the glue didn't break you're gunna have to glued plastic from glass) This means slow and steady. NO HAMMERS! Stock stuff might be heatable, dunno. I just worked it slow from both sides, both ends, I lost a sliver of glass when I got gready but it was covers in the glue. Slow and steady on pry off the glue. Total cost $25, oh and I sanded down the old glue, and used my new glue to glue some sandpaper to a piece of wood lying around so I had a nice sanding block for other stuff. (Also glued in my backlit gauges with the glue, and still haven't used 1/4 of it)
