That's why my spark doesn't blow out anymore compared to stock coils, right? I can now run 0.038 gap without issue at 18 psi, yet before the spark would blow out at 15 with 0.025 gap. Maybe you haven't paid attention to the thread I made, or anyone who's used them.

It doesn't help a boosted 60V6 either. We have tested it in multiple vehicles within the 60V6 community, all with the same results. No hp. Smoother idle, better mpg, no power or improved track times.

Magnecor wires and proper plugs are all you need for these engines. I can't speak for the 4 cylinders, so I haven't bothered with your thread.

Not speaking to you; talking about Redog's uninformed comment that MSD coils on an LD9 yields no benefit.

Why would you need hotter plugs?

Ben don't forget the MSD sticker, that adds about 75 HP by itself

Chris, you make NO mention of HP gains or anything on the sort. MSD igntion upgrade on a GM car does one thing. You open the hood and all your friends say "Whoa, that's tight"

That one has me a bit confused and I'd like to understand why that suggestion was made.
Nevertheless, I am not changing anything (even the stock paper air filter) until I get a baseline track run.

The gain comes from a reliable spark. You can't tell me that my car runs the same with it stumbling and sputtering versus smooth and powerful. I'm surprised with your background that you would talk down about having a strong spark. Everyone upgrades and adds to their fueling system and air induction, but ignores the ignition system. You need air, fuel, and spark to make the boom. If one isn't up to par, you make it so. I made my spark be able to handle the large air volume and turbulence it experiences. The proof is in the lack of stumbling under my old boost level, and also being able to now run a higher boost pressure still without it stumbling. And the ability to widen my spark plug gap (larger spark surface area). Last year at the track if my car jumped to 15 psi the spark would blow out and the car would stumble and shake down the strip, costing me time on the track. My car was shaking down the quarter mile when I ran 13.9 twice in a row, it was running like shit with all the weak spark failing to ignite the combustion mixture.

Now I can run a constant 18 PSI with spikes to 20-21 PERFECTLY smooth. So don't comment on shit you don't know about.

yea i don't get it either. i would think you want to go to a colder plug so you can squeeze as much spark advance as you can.

You want the plug to dissipate enough heat to prevent pre-ignition, but you also want it to be hot enough to burn off stuff so it doesn't get fouled out. Almost everyone uses one or two heat ranges colder of a plug on higher spark advance and/or boosted applications.
