I want it to sound louder but not sound like ricer, I want it sound like V8 but i know that probably impossible, I just want a deeper tone, I was also looking into pacesetter headers though, I wonder how they hold up,

well all headers rust, so get ceramic coated headers. and dont scratch them on install... and no point in getting headers with stock exhaust...
pacesetter has a deep throaty tone to it, i love the sound of it. and there is really no exhaust out there that will make your v6 sound like a fart can, unless you put one on it, only 4 cyl will sound like a fart can. (no offense to all you 4cyl guys)

thanks, I'll look into it, its good to have a dad that's a mechanic lol and yeah, this is my second car, my first car was a 97 base 2.2 L Cavalier and I put a glasspack muffler on it, it sounded cool at first but when all the fiberglass burned out, it sounded exactly like my friend's civic

I had another idea, I am on a budget, what if I bought a hi flow cat, and just say a flowmaster 40 series muffler, would there be any HP gain at all if I did that ? god knows the sound lol

i mean you can... but..
i would save up for an exhaust, instead of do it half ass.. i got my pacesetter exhaust and hi flow cat for a total of... around 500$. so not to bad. im not trying to be rude, yes you would get the sound from the new muffler.. but i wouldnt do that with stock piping honestly.. cats are quite a bit of money, so is a muffler depending on what it is. but if you're doing those, might as well do a full exhaust change.
and new is exhaust would be bigger, and better air flow.

I put a high flow cat on my Alero and didn't really notice any difference in sound. Keep in mind this is also going from a plugged converter, so that's even more restrictive than normal. Now if you eliminated the converter all together it would get considerably louder.
