Do you have pics of the tranny mount filled in?
And what did you use to fill it?

Not yet. Going to get the stuff soon. Its 3m windo weld. Stuff used to hold in windshields. It cures to a very strong, yet slightly flexible material. Im sure itll help since that one mount is nearly broken in half.

finally got that mothereffing crank pulley bolt loose. took another shot at it with a new, heavier duty extension, and 6 point socket. if it wasnt nearly 3 a.m. i would start the cam swap, but after a 10 hour work day, im beat. hopefully get it done tomorrow. ill be sure to post pics of everything.
heres the bolt, finally out:

Motor mount (on the left side), theres really not much to fill. I shot a bunch of the urethane into the 2 small holes in the top metal piece, but itll make minimal difference. The 2 trans mounts are whats gonna feel different. Like i said before, the front one is shot, so filling it will make a big difference. Rear one looks fine, and is a pain to get to, so im gonna try to fill it while its still in the car. If i can get it completely filled in, fantastic. If not, eh.

i was finally able to work on the car for a decent amount of time after work tonight. started around 12:45 with trying to get the crank pulley off, stopped right around 4 (yes 4 a.m.) with the timing components removed, and cam covers and cams removed. i really wish the cam tower to head gaskets were good, because i really dont feel like going any deeper, but the intake gasket is leaking horribly, so thatll be tomorrows job. along with reinstalling everything.
pics, in somewhat chronological order:
i have a feeling this engine has had some work done to it (chain, guides, maybe tensioner) or its a newer engine, because the car has nearly 200k miles on it, and theres at most 1/2mm of wear in the chain guides. they all look pretty good. so that means im returning a lot of the parts i bought.
pics of the guides:
all the parts laid out:
gonna try to get some sleep so i can finish this before work tomorrow.

Nope. Just the cams. Everything ive taken apart so far looks good, so no sense replacing it. Definitely not 197k miles on this engine tho.

I mean, im sure there is that milage on the engine, and most of the internals, but all the timing stuff looks close to new. Plus a handful of the bolts on the chain cover were barely hand tight, so im assuming someone did some work in there. The rest of the engine isnt in as good shape tho. Lots of leaks.

To me, all the timing stuff looks really old. The guides are the only thing that look new. Whoever owned it previously probably did the recommended timing chain job at whatever interval.
Compared to mine, which technically has like.... 35,000 miles:

So a question about lifters... Is it important that they be replaced when swapping in a different cam. Or is that only when a brand new cam is used?

The lifters do not need to be removed for a cam swap correct?
