The 2.4 LD9 was replaced in 2002 by the 2.2 L61,

LA1 3.4 99-04
L61 2.2 02-04

Wouldnt the 2.4 Twin Cam be a better engine/perform better ?

Ehh not exactly. Its all still up in the air as to which engine is better. Some say the L61 while others say the LD9. The L61 has alot more aftermarket parts available and is in alot more vehicles than the LD9.

Sense alero's are family cars they probably went to the L61 because it runs smoother and slightly better fuel efficiency.

Any suggestions or tips on the spring install? I have a spring compressor and air tools.
