Fuel rail leak

I was looking in the factory service manual and it said that the reason the back one is brown like that is because they wanted it to be a different color than the front gasket, which they said is black. They don't want you to mix them up, saying that they are made with different materials.

Why? Isn't it still sealing gasoline?

I could look again and see if it explains why, but it probably doesn't.
