nah its still like this. It doesnt really change anything. Its when I take some bumps, its like something is loose in the back. My mech and I presume its the fact that the lowering springs probably doesnt perfectly sit where they should and they move a little bit over potholes and bumps.
Its like this since they were installed, last spring. I noticed a difference when I got my rear sway bar though... the noise is less present. I suppose that having 2 nuts in the back on each strut tower instead of one (factory) help thighting all this.

i have stock springs with 60k on them, the front ones were just replaced after my accident. But the back right one is starting to make the same sound. Is it ok if i wait until after ASS to replace it???? can i drive long distances with a bad strut? or should i just replace the backs ones now..... the thing about replacing them now is that i dont have too much money, i need to get the headers installed, and get my speed sensor fixed, along with whatever is causing my gauges to not work at random times..... lol

I've been doing a ton of highway driving lately so the noise hasn't been bothering me but I know it has to be done. We have a long weekend coming up so I just picked up two Strut Mounts and got my name on a rental spring compressor and I plan to do both on Saturday. I'll try to post pictures if anyone wants them.

Did the job last weekend and the noise is gone. I have a quiet car back again.
Funny thing is I have a 2001 regal with 250,000kms on it and I've never changed the struts or the mounts, but this alero started making noise at 60,000kms.
Oh well, now I know how to change a strut. It's really not a very big job.

Recall
GM actually posted a recall regarding this issue. I can't remember where I read the information, but it's been a problem on the N body cars for a while. GM seems to think that it isn't a serious problem, and poses no safety hazard, it's more of a pain in the arse than anything. If you search recalls for any year Alero/Malibu/Grand Am, its listed as a TSB, or Technical Service Bulliten. I don't have access to get into the details without paying for them, maybe someone on here can find it?

I have access to GM Global connect, it's what the dealerships use to get all their info, you can PM me what you are looking for and I can tell you.
