Even if you did send it in, once SPECMO realizes the unit has been tampered with they won't touch it.

The dealers may use Specmo (or AJR?), but there certainly are more places that do it.

Makes sense that the mileage info would be stored in the cluster and computer to avoid fraud.
dealer is unaware he is dealing with a retard.<<<<That was classic...LOLOL

Because they could be independent...which would make someone trying to do something fraudulent unable to get away with it.

well with the system the way it is, you could easly buy a new cluster, ride with it for a while and sell an alero with say 10 or 20 k on it, and the buyer wouldnt know unless it was put a computer

True but if they had it only coming from the computer then all they would have to do is replace the computer too. I don't know how they have it set up but someone will find away around it if they want to, and if what you are saying is true...that they will program it...then they will probably read the computer first before setting the miles on the cluster.

My Delta did that
Nobody going to fix that for ya, odometer tampering is illegal
Stop thinking, it might not hurt your head, but it hurts all of ours

Pay the $83...easy and done. I'm pretty sure all they do is run an engine compression check and reprogram it.

i wouldnt try to detach that because of the pins being as thin as they are. if you bend one you're more than likely going to ask more stupid questions... lol

it doesn't detach. I have a spare i've tinkered with. you DO NOT WANT to break those pins, or have to resolder any of them.
just leave it.
