your gas mileage isnt going to go down the drain if you get the kit, it may hinder it a bit due to higher shift points but its not like its gonna be something extremely noticeable

It's OK but be sure to hook it up only once.
The dealership messed with mine and I had to rehook it and it didn't work right.
For like $10 more you can get a PCM and have a lot more options

ok, admitted newb to aleros, but not to modifying cars. not trying to undermine anybody, but aren't the B&M shift improvement kits ACTUAL plate, blockers, and check-ball assemblies that replace plates and check-balls INSIDE the transmission??? I'm not sure about this specific one, but for most rwd models (camaro, mustang, etc...) thats what they are. I know the alero isnt rwd, but shouldnt the principle be the same? any links available? I'd be glad to check this one out.

The B&M Shiftplus is basically a module that interrupts the wiring to your transmission. it causes it to shift harder, better, faster stronger.

OHHH!! ok! sorry, i wasn't sure. that sounds like a pretty good idea, but i agree that on a mostly stock, street driven car it would make little difference. for the cost though, if it'll make you happy go for it!

the sticker that gave teh alero 37 was under the old epa system, you must look closer at those stickers now, the new epa system is extremly accurate, it is on point for all 7 vehicles around my house

the B&M will not affect gas mileage at all. It does increase shift firmness but you can switch the setting to off and not use it most of the time and when you want play around or go to the track then just switch it on.
this a great mod for $30-$40.
i thought i did a review in my install thread

oh its like the venom performance chip my friend has, you keep it on off except for when you want it, i didnt expect it to be like that, thats why i mentioned wiring in a switch, in that cas im ready to do this agian, i dont want somthing thats gonna suck mileage down during daily cruising, but who cares about mileage if your racing to a track, that defys the point
to shorten this up, if theres a switch to off, im game

The shiftplus has a toggle switch. Center is off, one side is #1 and the other side is #2.
It's a good mod to do for the money. A little hard to hook into the hardness, but it works. Look up Oldsman's how to:
The mod will work with all 3 Alero powerplants
Gee look what I found, I used that crazy little button called "search" go figure
http://www.aleromod.com/forums/showt...ight=shiftplus
and
http://www.aleromod.com/forums/showt...ight=shiftplus
And I know it's listed for a Camaro. Scot did it, I did it, and a few other people did it with the same kit, OK I can close this now
