That was what Chrysler did in the 90's. They either had knock offs of Mitsubishi Models or each brand within the company had a knock off of the same car and they all had the same Pentastar logo during the late 80's and early 90's. So if you took the badges off a Dodge Caravan and a Plymouth Voyager for example and then put them side by side you wouldn't know the difference from just looking at them. That was why Plymouth ended up failing because they were just cheaper knock offs of the same Dodge or Chrysler models with the exception of the Prowler being the last unique Plymouth model. The Plymouth Breeze was the same thing as a Dodge Stratus or Chrysler Cirrus, the Plymouth Neon was the same thing as a Dodge Neon, and the Plymouth Voyager was the same thing as a Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country. You can't expect a car company to survive when you do that for over a decade.

I dono if id say a talon is a knockoff eclipse, If that was so why are so many american guys converting their eclipses over to talons? to dsm'ers theyre more appreciated especially towards the end because of the production #'s
2g Production Numbers
Eagle Talon production numbers
1995: 25,066
1996: 15,100
1997: 9,788
1998: 4,307
Total:54,261
Mitusbishi Eclipse production numbers
Totals
1995 218,161
1996 192,961
1997 189,086
1998 157,139
1999 161,844
Total:919,191
with that being said there were more eclipses made each year than the whole 2g talon run...total talons made by the way was 199,321(1g and 2g)
the only reason ppl may think that the talon is a knockoff eclipse is because f&f...they used an eclipse instead of a talon.

Interesting and glad you didn't take my comment offensively. I kinda like the whole thing you got going on with your car with the front end of eclipse, definitely different.

thanks. the reason im doing the eclipse front deal is because mitsu's werent sold in canada till 01...hence you very rarely see 1 or 2g eclipses up here let alone a talon. I light put tsi skirts on it, but thats all, stock bodied FTW!!!

that's sad, though careful on the street racing stories. This site has rules against posting about those stories. I'm sure it won't be long actually until someone posts the actual rule. But what motor does your mom Alero have?

well i dono if it could be considered racing cause it was i big incline, the speed limit was 100km/hr and all we were doing was like 120....
the alero has the 3.4, its pretty peppy on the low end, but thats about it

regardless of speed, if you two were racing each other, it can be considered street racing. Tis a sad story though.... The alero should have won.

haha yeah, well what if it wasnt "racing"...what if it was 2 people trying to get to the top of the hill as fast as they could at the same time....
side note, i tryed the same hill with the talon....150km/hr

I will agree with you that the Talon is a lot rarer and still to this day harder to find and your right you don't see them to often, but they still shared the same platform with the Eclipse. So other than some cosmetic differences the Talon is the sister of the Eclipse Just like the Grand Am is the sister of the Alero.

ive actually been having some problems with the damn talon(aside from it being a cop magnet) like last night the left turn blinker started and wont stop, as far as i know the only thing that can cause that is the dimmer switch assy....i hope. but the ecu is pretty much fried, so that could be a part of it too

Personally I think the Alero looks nice. That color blue is one of my favorite colors for that car and the gold badging and pinstriping go really well with that color.

I agree. i beleive moms alero is one of the nicest ones around here, its got a few rust spots on it, also a few scratches on the corners(old ass lady had it before) and the wheels need a good scrubbin(not by me) but over all, it isnt bad for an alero, its loaded, tan leather, mooon roof ect.

Its kinda funny how you try to talk bad about the Alero lmao... "I clean the alero with talons dirty water" good for you.

i guess i wouldnt call it dirty water, cause the talon never gets that dirty, so rather i should have put "i washed the alero after the talon"
but just for the record, we are very unhappy with the alero, and i think it has around 60- 70k miles on it, 1 bad wheel bearing sets off 5 lights in the dash? wtf
i dont mind driving it once in a while, its "nicer" to drive than my car, it rids nice and runs smooth, the only problem i see on that aspect is i feel that its under braked.
