Thats a question you could email Ben for. He's quite quick when it comes to responding to emails.
But yeah.. When I looked at the 3400 stage 3 kit, i overlooked the fact that it uses 3400 heads.. The 3400/3500 hybrid kit is more desirable to me.

I remember seeing somewhere (60degree I think) that Ben said race ported 3400 heads flowed better than race/boost 3500 heads.

If you bought a 3400 turbo kit... The 3500 heads and LIM would still work...

Going turbo, you'll want low compression. Ion is the guy to talk to about what CR you should run. You'll need Commetic head gaskets. Check out wot-tech.com and have fun
Is the Alero worth it, no. But then again, is it worth it to build up a 92 Civic, no but people do it anyway

That's purely based on opinion not fact. Modding cars is a hobby and like any hobby it can be expensive. If you lack interest in modding your car then obviously its not worth it.
Hobbies are about doing what makes you happy, not about how much it costs. If it costs too much, then don't take up that hobby.
What makes the Alero appealing to a lot of people is because Alero modding isn't main stream...
Its all about personal preference.

It's a lot harder to make power naturally aspirated (and keep it streetable) than it would be if you threw boost at it. Trust me.....I'm going the hard way (again) and I'll be lucky to get 300HP at the flywheel.
If I had a chance to start over, I'd probably just go the turbo/intercooler route......and a different transmission shortly thereafter.
People will scoff at it, but there is a nice-looking Grand Am on another site. He had the motor built, threw in a turbo and intercooler, and a fortified 4T65E-HD tranny.
It made 400WHP a short time ago.
People will argue that it should be making more (it's at 21psi I think), and that may be true, but that's still a ton of power in this small car.
