And that was at 30 to 35 mph.....I remember someone talking about street racing at that mileage like it would only cause a fender bender.....we now see what that fender bender would look like.

Wow that is insane. I'm glad you walked out of this relatively ok - just remember, it could be worse.

the thing is, if you look at the pictures, there is very little damage (if any) to the passenger compartment. these cars are made to crumple in the front and back and protect the passengers. you can see that everything is engineered to fold in to reduce the force quicker and protect the occupants.

Damn dude that's one hell of a hit. Glad you're doing alright.
And, in my opinion, if you're only looking at an old stang, you need to be paining and suffering a bit harder.

holy sh*t man. Glad you are ok. Sucks about the car, but sh*t happens. Just be thankful you weren't seriously injured.
About the totaling of the car out, they should allow you to get the wheels and such as long as you have another set to put on it. When they totaled out my last alero, I was allowed to get my rims because I had the stock ones to put back on it. As well as take other items from it that were mine (ie. stereo equipment). So hopefully that works out for you. Sorry for your loss bro.

as per facebook... he says hes having a hard time sitting up without a lot of pain.
let this be a notice to anyone on this forum. if you get into an accident... and your car looks like this. GO TO THE HOSPITAL. Even if you have nothing wrong, and no pain. Even if you can walk around just fine. Adrenaline will keep you feeling fine for a while. Granted, the next day is always the worst(for him this is a few days afterwards). You, yourself cannot tell if you have something internally wrong. (nor can i, and i know what i'd be looking/feeling for) Get checked out. The quicker they find something (like a herniated disc) the better. Let unchecked, you could have an injury that persists for your lifetime OR semi-paralysis.
Just keep a mental note. Alot of power was required to make his car look like that. Alot of that power, transferred through his body. Pretty easy to move skin/bone/muscle when it can bend that much metal.

Glad you're Okay.
Also, if you're going for a mustang, go for the 5.0L Box body style. those are the ones.
