no rockers
cam --> lifter bucket
Without boost, you won't make nearly as much power as easily or inexpensively. Air intake, ported head with bigger valves, camshafts, high compression pistons, lightened crankshaft, long tube header, and excellent fuel/spark tuning.

And what he's saying is you can get different cams which provide more of a non economy car type valve cycle.
With the heads you can have them remove materiel for the intake and exhast runners aka "ported" so the air and exhaust can flow more freely. Together with the new cams this lets your engine breath a lot better. Which in turn lets you tune your car to make more power
|
Ah! Alright, I get it. Where do I get these different cams, and all in all how much would all this cost?

Dude, you need to do research before you start buying this stuff. Do intake, header, exhaust first. Then worry about the rest. You can't simply just buy a cam and throw it in....you need to upgrade other parts if you want to put a cam in. It's NOT cheap and requires a tune. Focus on the easy mods first then start looking into cams, ported intake, etc.
The two places that make parts for our cars is milzymotorsport.com and wot-tech.com. Both guys know A LOT about our cars and make some quality parts. A header for the 2.4 can be found pretty much anywhere, along with an intake and exhaust. When you start getting into building an engine the best place to go is milzy or wot-tech. had to edit cause i'm not 100% sure that wot-tech or milzy mess around with 2.4s. I know they could if they wanted but their sites have nothing about 2.4's. They specialize in the 3.4s for our cars.

Oh, and one more question. Is the Dynomax Super Turbo exhaust any good? I was looking, and it is a pretty cheap buy.

2.4 stock is only 150... given that these motors are also found in j-body's you can find parts listed for cavalier/sunfire as well... check out jbody.org for more info on these motors...
intake-$45
headers-$100 (less if you can find some used, in good shape)
exhaust-$200+++ depends if you buy a custom borla or have something made at a shop...
for quick easy power, check out the 2.3 lgo motor and look into the head swap and "secret cam"...

Header... yes... exhaust... no.
Pacesetter header. And obx are your only options for headers.
Pacesetter makes an exhaust system for the alero.

Yea, the only thing is they are near $500. Little pricey, but I may look into it.

Man how times have changed! It cost me three grand for exhaust alone and an additional twenty grand went into my full build. I paid 32,800 for the car and 25,000 into mods over the years I had it. Grand total, 60K!!
About to start on the Trans Am here and makes modding the Grand Am look like a cake walk! LOLOLOL
