Are anyone elses headlights sealed by black gunk stuff? It looks like all of the pictures have clear silicon in them but mine is enclosed by black stuff.. it's gooey kinda, doesn't look like silicon to me. I might be completely off here but I want to know before I get myself into a mess lol

mine was gay... but yeah. its more rubber based rather then silicone. the clear is most likely shots from people who have already done it once.

Cleared and painted, all I need now are the silver or LED bulbs.

Looks Good...I run all clear bulbs..the only difference is that my corners aren't as bright as the low and high beam lights, and therefore look like a different color.

I've seen a few people on here with the entire overlay painted black, instead of just the outward facing surface. How badly does that wreck the reflection on the chrome?

heat small sections and pull while you have the screwdriver in there. There will be a but load of silcone. For a clean job, you can take like an adheshive remover or goo off/ goo gone and remove all old silcone and redo all of that.
