I was bummin' around with the stuff, and really liked the look. That'll be the foundation of the panels. Once these black panels are all done, and mounted. Then I can map out, shape, and make a center cover piece - also fiberglassed, but smooooth, and polished. Likely Gunmetal. This piece will also incorporate the cover for that 10 Farad Cap. as well. So, the back wont be completely black-raw-fiberglass.
As well, the outer edges of the sub-assembly (from the edge to the interior body of the car), it will be the same smoothed polished gunmetal fiberglass. This pattern of raw black and polished gunmetal will also adorn the ceiling of the car as well.
Until last night I thought about making these pieces red, but that would have been a bit much. None the less... that's about all I have on that right now.

Nope, no pictures - yet. Come Easter weekend though, I'll be doing quite a bit more fiberglassing. So, yeah... hopefully then there's going to be more for pictures.

Well, I managed to finish pounding out the metal pieces for those kickboards... I'll be rivetting them in about an hour - just got some good news right now, so I'm a bit delayed... but, I'll have links to pictures posted later on tonight...

Alright, in the midst of quite a few phone calls, and still "recovering" from food poisoning... bleh... here's a quick picture of the drivers side nearly complete.

The Piece there is quite reflective - you can still see some of my finger prints. There's going to be a second long strip going behind that. Soon after I'll have the other side done, along with the door panels.

Cool idea! Those door sills that are available on eBay would've looked nice there too:

aaaahhhhhh shhhhhit...
But, looking at them, I don't think that the shape would fit that well... there's a bit too much of a curve on the sill near the front to fit a flat piece...

lol, here's a link to the auction (or just search for alero door sills) in case you change your mind. I've always thought they would look nice. Measurements are 1.5 inch (3.8 cm) by 19 inch ( 48cm); they do seem a lot beefier in the picture though.

You know... I could use those somewhere else in the car though... I'm sold. Thanks for the find! Much appreciated. Chalk up another reason why I love this site...

Yep, bought them, and should be in within a week or so. I think I'll be putting it in as a center piece on the new back-deck area being built up. Seeing as the exterior will be completely shaved in the end, with no logo's, I should have it somewhere eh? Thanks again for the heads up.

lol I always had the idea to somehow cut out the word alero with the olds' symbol next to it, then have it light up blue at night..... never got around to it though....

to get that right, I'd recommend finding someone with access to a CNC machine for exact cutting. But that would look pretty bloody sweet! Good idea Cav

Thanks for the compliments... to be honest with you guys... right now I'm setting up the basics for my own side project works... once the Alero's done, it'll be a "show piece" for what I can do... so, like I said, thank you very much... but wait until about late June early July (Before Street Wheelers Rob), and see the finished product... but Aruba eh? Where abouts is that?
